Seven AFL Coverage (2016-24 seasons)

Has been the case since they started the 7+ sports campaign before the AFL GF. I think all sports not on 7 has that logo instead of the secondary channel logo.

I don’t get why they have just 7+, at least use a 7+ sports logo since that’s what they have been advertising. They even have the 7+ sports when coming back from ad breaks.

They need to pick 1 option & stick with it

It should just be 7Sport, fine to have the 7+ Sport one when returning from a break briefly to promote the streaming side of things.

But as a permanent watermark on the multis for sports, it feels like the logo is being wrongly used and a bit disingenuous.

From what I’ve seen it slides to the right from the 7+ Sport logo and takes the position shown in the caps above.
Suprised that 7 can’t make the plus fade away and the 7 change colour to its respective channel and the channel’s name appears below the big 7 - whether that be mate or two.

I’m sure they could, just haven’t done so. But your suggestion makes more sense than what they are doing now… Or have the bug alternate between 7+ and the actual FTA channel.

You could say Rick was Brett Kirk’s predecessor in weirdo on-air commentary at Seven. Olarenshaw did not return in 2010 and Matthew Richardson (who’d done some trials at Ten in 2009) joined Seven where he remains as one of the longest serving behind Tim Watson and Richo will possibly be the longest continually serving from next year.

Straight hit back in response to Footy Furnance

My first thought when I read that too, have they done this before? Can’t recall it being done on TV specials previously.

First time they have done a dedicated trade show.

Wouldn’t it be moreso a response to Trading Day on Fox? The Footy Furnace special isn’t on until 9:40pm, whereas this is directly competing with Fox Footy’s show.

In 2019 Seven aired The Trade Game, produced by Crocmedia.

Here we go, confirmation of no 7 produced games on Saturday until R16

With the introduction of Super Saturday Live, FOX Footy, on Kayo Sports and Foxtel, will be the only place to watch AFL live and in 4K for at least the first eight rounds of the season nationally, and the first 15 rounds in Victoria.

What about Dreamtime at the G in May? That will be produced by Seven right?

:100: - is a marquee match so Seven will be producing and airing it live, especially in Victoria.

Don’t think we can say that’s confirmation considering there’ll be exceptions to that.

Wouldn’t be surprised if a Saturday night ‘Opening Round’ and/or Gather Round (two initiatives which didn’t exist when the 2025+ rights deal was signed) game is produced by Seven.

Calling the first weekend of games “Opening Round” instead of just “Round 1” is probably a loophole the
AFL and Seven came up with as Foxtel’s Saturday exclusivity period starts in “Round 1”.

AFL already confirmed that ANZAC Day/Eve & Dreamtime Saturday games would be on 7. But everything else is Fox in the first 15. I don’t think there are other marquee Saturday games

Next year Seven will only have one marquee Saturday game in the first 15 rounds (Dreamtime) as Anzac Day falls on a Friday.

According to some fixture reports, there could be around 21 Thursday night matches in 2025. Also 7 is pushing for some Sunday night matches in the first 3rd of the fixture as well

I wonder if some arrangement could be reached where Seven get to broadcast Thursday night matches all season, and in return Fox Footy become the home of Saturday football for the entire season (so no Seven produced games in the last 8 rounds).
