As pre Covid days.

Not sure about that. Free yes but live for all 22?

If I remember correctly, Jobe Watson, Cameron Ling and Jimmy Bartel will be rotated through Thursday night and Sunday afternoon this year.

In the past couple of years, the four SA and WA clubs each had three matches shown on 3 hour delay, regardless of it being produced by Fox Footy or Seven. Looks like the delay is gone under the two-year extension of Seven’s existing broadcast deal with the AFL.

I’m not so sure about that. The 2 year extension kicks in next year for 2023-2024. I think it’s a poorly worded press release.

We will see when afl release the week by week broadcast guide.

If I was to have a guess, the vast majority of games played outside Melbourne will probably be called off-tube with on-site commentaries only occurring for ‘big’ games such as finals.

Even for matches played in Sydney or Canberra? It’s not unreasonable for commentators to fly from Melbourne to Sydney/Canberra and back?

As part of Foxtel’s extension, they got rid of the Ch7 feed on Foxtel Now/Go and Kayo. So maybe Ch7 was able to negotiate something as well (like removing the delay on the 3 SA/WA games)

The majority of interstate games would be covered by Fox Footy, not Ch7 anyway.

Friday Night and Sunday arvo (3.20) games are for the most part played in Melbourne.

I saw the Ch 7 feed with ads on Fox Footy Play for several AFLW games over the weekend.

Well it would have happened last year, the same time Foxtel dropped the 7 commercials on 7 produced games for streaming.

I thought Lewis Martin indicated in an interview some time back it was their intention to return to OB production/commentary at the grounds once coronavirus permitted, which would have to be if not now, right around the corner?

Having talent with mics on the grass on-location and hosts in front of a window overlooking the ground, IMO, does make the difference as a viewer. It’s just everyone accepted the situation during lockdowns and when coronavirus was running wild, but will be interesting to see the optics and public response (Fox Footy too) in 2022.

AFLW comes under a separate agreement which expires at the end of the current season.

The separate agreement is why Seven can show AFLW matches on 7Plus when they can’t do it for men’s matches.

That’s a big stretch. It all depends on what can be negotiated. The ch7 deal negotiated separately to foxtel.

I wonder why the Eagles v Suns game on Sunday night didn’t get a mention?

Shouldn’t this be
Melbourne 2. Sydney 1, Adelaide 1 ?

Yes, I miscounted the R2 games.
