A telemovie which is a pilot for a TV series seems like the wrong content for World Movies.

Having enough appropriate G / PG rated movies was always going to be a problem for this channel.

When 10 (it was on ONE) aired this last a couple of years ago, they ‘muted’ the entire rape scene with Robert De Niro and Elizabeth McGovern, as well as shortening it. I commented on MS at the time (I recorded it, one of the longest running movies on TV ever - ran until after 2am after a 9 or 9:30pm start).

The movie is still rated R18+, with the consumer advice (re-classified for Blu Ray 6 years ago) still incidating that scene as impactful as it was when it was last classified 17 years ago for DVD and its theatrical release nearly 40 years ago. I wonder if SBS edited it, surely they did?

The Flintstones is on again. Must be rating

Technically it’s an American film so it qualifies as a world movie which is what this channel is about.

It still goes against the spirit of what an SBS World Movies channel probably should be though: Largely non-mainstream movies.

Likely an extreme lack of G and PG movies in the catalogue. This was always going to be a problem for this channel with current classifications regulations.
