Tuesday 3 September 2019 on SBS VICELAND and SBS On Demand (all six episodes available to stream)

From executive producers Lorne Michaels and Elizabeth Banks comes Shrill, a comedy series starring Aidy Bryant (Saturday Night Live) as Annie, a fat young woman who wants to change her life - but not her body.

Annie is trying to start her career as a journalist while juggling bad boyfriends, a sick parent, and a perfectionist boss. Along the way, Annie will weigh the pros and cons of having a child with her hook-up buddy and the decision-making process will force her, with help from her best friend Fran, to figure out who she is and what she wants from her life. She will also write her first article, and she will finally ask for more from the people in her life than she has before. She hits a setback when an Internet troll appears and tries to drag her self-esteem back down where it started. But she will ultimately promote body positivity and explain exactly what it’s like to be a fat woman in today’s world. Shrill will also begin airing on SBS VICELAND weekly on Tuesdays at 9.30pm from Tuesday, 3 September.

Cavendish

Thursday 28 November at 19:30pm on SBS VICELAND andSBS On Demand

Mark (Mark Little) and Andy (Andy Bush) haven’t been back to Cavendish since their parents split up almost 30 years ago. They grew up in Toronto with their mother and have had little contact with their Dad, Rollie, outside of the occasional Christmas phone call.

Mark never seemed to mind - a nice gift and the rare compliment were always enough to sustain him - but Andy never got over the wound of rejection. Now, Mark and Andy are back in Cavendish to take care of their ailing father, and they’re finding that Cavendish is not like other towns. Weird things happen here - creepy things the townspeople seem to take in stride. There may or may not be a ‘beast’ that roams the surrounding woods, possessed ancient statues, and an Anne of Green Gables cult. There’s also at least one coven.

Cavendish will also begin airing on SBS VICELAND, double episodes weekly at 10.30pm from Thursday, 28 November.

Tried to watch Letterkenny, but the accents without subtitles … are they “putting on” the accents ? I could only make out every 3rd word.

I know Trailer Park Boys is Canadian and don’t have any issues with hearing what they say.

From Thursday 28 November at 9.25pm

Over the course of the new series, the cops investigate supernatural teens at O’Leary’s old high school; a spectral 1930’s cop who appears when the police enforce a no-hooting ban in the Mt. Victoria Tunnel; a curious case of cloning at a rural motel; an 80’s boy racer car that appears to have no driver; a series of thefts of out of date technology in the vicinity of O’Leary’s family home; and in a Christmas Special, we follow the cops on a typical paranormal patrol on Christmas Eve.

How To Leave An Abusive Relationship

Saturday 23 November at 8.30pm

How To Leave An Abusive Relationship is a compelling documentary offering a comprehensive guide to those who need it most.

In this film, we enlist the advice of seven experts, and explore how to prepare a victim of domestic abuse emotionally and practically. We hear from a policeman, GP, independent Domestic Violence advisor, therapist, refuge manager, and a victim support manager, and they talk us through how to access the help and support available.

The most accessible faces of support can be the police - and even the GP, familiar faces who know you and your family personally, who can then pass victims onto a range of services, both emotional and practical - from counselling, to relocation and housing options, and even to legal representatives.

Narcos is FTA premiere, it debuted on Netflix on August 28, 2015.

NBC has announced season 7 of Brooklyn Nine-Nine will premiere on February 6, 2020, so expect Viceland to fasttrack the show within a week of US broadcast.
