Don’t want to speculate stuff but what is going on?
Firstly, AASA split up with Benalla Auto Club (BAC) in a highly contentious ownership dispute, then the major sponsor Hi-Tec Oils gets the naming rights removed from the series event (assuming they pulled away) tv deal gets cut, and then Ambrose steps away.
Non AFL/NRL sports are continually going through riffs like this. The money goes one way at the moment.
LA VUELTA 2026

All the action from the 2026 edition of La Vuelta as the final Grand Tour of the year sets off from Monaco. The route will take the peloton through a mediterranean and mountainous landscape, across 21 stages and a total of 3275 kilometres. Every stage is live on SBS2 and SBS On Demand from the 23rd of August to 14th of September. Stage 1 - All the action from the opening stage of La Vuelta 2026, as the race begins with a 9 km individual time-trial starting and finishing in Monaco.

More than six million sports fans stay with SBS for Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes Avec Zwift
Sources:Following the success of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ broadcast in June-July, sports fans continued to tune in to SBS for more of the world’s great sporting celebrations, the Tour de France (4-26 July) and Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift (1-9 August), which together attracted a Total TV Reach of 6.15 million.
There were 5.21 million viewers (Total TV Reach) for the 21-stage Tour de France, which included a two-week crossover with the FIFA World Cup 2026**™**, and 1.51 million for the 9-stage Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.
SBS On Demand made a stronger contribution to cycling audiences this year, with 28.6% of Total TV viewing for the Tour de France, and 19.7% for the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.
SBS Sport leveraged high-profile commentary by Australia’s only Tour de France winner, Cadel Evans, and cycling stars Caleb Ewan and Grace Brown, and used its unique access to riders to provide audiences with 360-degree coverage as Tadej Pogacar claimed his fifth Tour de France and Demi Vollering won her second Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.
SBS Sport grew its 2026 Tour de France third-party platform performance by 450% YOY (660 million views on SBS Sport social media platforms across both races), including an increase of 405% YOY (555 million views) for the Tour de France, and 812% YOY (106 million views) for the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.

SBS’s live, free and exclusive coverage of cycling’s final Grand Tour of the year, La Vuelta a Espana, will begin on 23 August (AEDT) on SBS2 (formerly SBS VICELAND) and SBS On Demand.
Following overall victories to Jonas Vingegaard (Giro d’Italia) and Pogacar (Tour de France), the Vuelta presents one last opportunity for the world’s best male riders to capture a Grand Tour title this year.
This year’s Vuelta starts in Monaco on 22 August (European time) before entering France and finishing in Granada on 13 September.
Pogacar will bid to win a second consecutive Grand Tour this year, while four-time Vuelta winner Primoz Roglic, Joao Almeida and Wout van Aert are also in the line-up and primed to produce more fireworks as the fascinating 2026 World Tour season continues to unfold.

All the action from the 2026 TCS Sydney Marathon presented by ASICS, as competitors take on one of the world’s most scenic courses in the event’s second year as a World Marathon Major.
Coverage on SBS will conclude at 10:30am, with SBS On Demand then live streaming the rest of the event until 1:30pm.
A full race replay will be made available to Australian audiences via SBS On Demand shortly after coverage has ended.

NITV to bring First Nations netball to audiences nationwide
Every match of the 2026 First Nations Tournament will be live and free thanks to a new broadcast partnership with NITV.
Netball Australia and National Indigenous Television (NITV) have announced a new broadcast partnership that will make every match of netball’s annual First Nations Tournament available to watch for free, giving fans across Australia greater access to one of the country’s leading celebrations of First Nations netball.
The partnership will provide a significant platform for First Nations athletes and communities, increasing the visibility of their talent while sharing the stories, culture and connections that sit at the heart of the tournament.
Fans will be able to watch every match for free, with pool rounds and playoff matches broadcast across SBS On Demand and YouTube from Wednesday 16 September. Sunday’s medal matches will be the first in the tournament’s history to be broadcast free-to-air, live on NITV from 11:30am AEST on 20 September.
For Netball Australia, the partnership represents an important step in creating greater opportunities and visibility for First Nations Australians through netball. It also reflects a strong alignment with NITV, whose commitment to telling First Nations stories and creating opportunities for First Nations Australians is shared by the sport’s national governing body.
Netball Australia CEO Mark Falvo said the partnership would help ensure First Nations athletes have the platform and profile they deserve.
“Visibility matters. This partnership gives First Nations athletes an exciting platform to showcase their talent, their stories and the quality netball being played across our communities,” Falvo said.
“We’re proud to partner with NITV, an organisation that shares our commitment to growing opportunities for First Nations Australians, and we’re excited that this partnership will give fans free access to every match.”

MORE THAN 180 TEAMS SET TO COMPETE
The Koori Knockout has grown to be one of the largest Indigenous sporting events in the world,
with more than 180 teams lining up to compete in this year’s competition in Raymond Terrace.
The Knockout has traditionally attracted NRL and NSW Cup scouts after developing a huge reputation for highlighting the immense talent and resilience of Indigenous rugby league players. Big name stars including Latrell Mitchell, Cody Walker, Josh Addo-Carr, Greg Inglis, Jack Wighton and Latrell Siegwalt were all Knockout players before playing NRL.

The 2026 UCI Gravel World Championships will take place in Nannup, Western Australia, on 10 and 11 October. This will be the first edition of the event to be organised outside of Europe.
Created in 2022, with the inaugural edition held in Veneto (Italy), the UCI Gravel World Championships quickly established themselves as a major fixture on the UCI International Calendar.
Nannup has built a solid reputation within the gravel community thanks to the SEVEN Gravel Race, an event that has been part of the UCI Gravel World Series since 2022. Hosting the UCI World Championships now confirms its status on the international stage.

They don’t have the club comps, do they have the Arab Cup? They don’t have the FIFA Series (10, FIFA+).
Also, sad Australia did not enter.
Each round will carry two SBS linear broadcasts, including the new Thursday night showcase - an increase on last year’s debut season.
SBS will exclusively broadcast Thursday night (SBS2) and Saturday (SBS) matches, while all other games stream on Football Australia’s YouTube channel and SBS On Demand.
