SBS Sport

When Nine had the US Open its opener had a relaxed cosmopolitan feel (at one stage it used a pop song with the lyrics “push the tempo”). Hopefully SBS’s opener will be something similar.

Madness that Seven didn’t pick it up.

For Seven and Nine it would be direct competition for their precious breakfast and morning programs; so they probably didn’t want this even for a multi channel.

Great news for tennis in Australia to have FTA coverage of the US Open again, thought it was lost to Pay TV forever. And given how bad the coverage from Fox Sports was last year it’s a win that it’s moving over to ESPN. Going to be interesting to see whether they use the world feed or take ESPN US coverage and whether they will show the Aussies at all.

Same with SBS coverage and whether they’ll bother with any studio coverage

They’ll be taking the ESPN feed with ESPN commentators. Fox Sports’ coverage. Both ESPN and ESPN2 will be running coverage with WatchESPN streaming 12 courts live during play

Quarter Finals onward, somebody’s optimistic!

That’s fantastic, ESPN does a pretty decent job over there, look forward to the coverage

Great result for all Australians (and tennis fans, like myself)

Same as the French this year. They only showed it on one channel and most of the time they were showing the aussies and some big matches werent shows at all. Does anyone know if they have lost Wimbledon as well? There is no mention of it on their website or Facebook page and they haven’t sent out any press releases yet.

Phil Liggett is upset he and Paul Sherwin will not commentate Tour de France for SBS viewers this year, and blames tour organisers ASO for the change.

SBS will be showing Arsenal vs Sydney FC and Arsenal vs WSW club friendlies on 13 and 15 July after the failed ABC2 broadcast in May with Liverpool and Sydney FC

I thought FFA hated SBS after their treatment of the A League.

I think the FFA has been left with no choice but return to SBS after the ABC’s bad telecast of Liverpool v Sydney FC, as well as Ten in administration, and Seven and Nine committed with AFL and NRL respectively.

Still think Ten could’ve gone for it, and showcase what the upcoming season will be like. More like a warm-up event for the A league

They have no money to buy rights.

Opener to Tour

I notice the Tour organisers introduced new graphics after two decades.
