The FFA wants it on the main channel. They kick up a stink when SBS moved the A-League to SBS2 only to see them come grovelling back after shopping these games to every other network (except Foxtel?)

FFA must be really dumb then to allow A League to be on One instead of Ten then if they’re so concerned about games being on the main channel!

The games could eventually go to TEN, the TEN CEO has said this. The network should show Melbourne and Sydney derbies on the main channel in the respected states.

The biggest football league in the world returns to the home of international football, SBS, next month. SBS’s exclusive free-to-air coverage of first-class games will be broadcast live every Saturday night from 12 August. Premier League live coverage is hosted by SBS’s football reporter Lucy Zelic and award-winning football analyst, former Crystal Palace midfielder, Craig Foster. SBS will continue to show one live match each week across SBS and SBS HD, along with weekly highlights on The World Game, Mondays at 11.00pm on SBS and SBS HD.

SBS announced today that it would broadcast every stage of La Vuelta a Espana cycling tour live for the first time. This year’s race will start in Nimes in France on August 19 and finish in Madrid on September 10. All 21 stages will be shown live on SBS Viceland.

Another tribute to an SBS icon, Les Murray. Les Murray was one of the most respected and experienced sportscasters on SBS. He has worked so hard when covering the FIFA World Cup Coverage. Australia has lost one of its sports icons. RIP Les Murray.

SBS will broadcast the state funeral for Les Murray next Monday (August 14) at St Mary’s Cathedral in Sydney, starting at 10.50am AEST. The funeral is open to the public.

SBS’s Premier League coverage returns in prime time this weekend – live, free and in HD
The 2017-18 season of the biggest league in the world returns to the exclusive free-to-air home of international football, opening with Watford V Liverpool from 9.00pm, Saturday 12 August.
Watford will be looking to start this season strong in front of a home crowd at Vicarage Road to make up for a poor finish in 2016-17 and The Reds, boasting one of the strongest global fan bases in the competition, are set for title challenge following a busy time in the off-season’s highly controversial transfer window.
Kick-off for five of the first seven live matches will begin in local prime time, including blockbuster contests featuring both Manchester powerhouses City and United, and the newly promoted home of Socceroo Aaron Mooy, Huddersfield Town.
SBS’s Premier League live coverage is hosted by SBS Football Reporter Lucy Zelic and award-winning SBS Chief Football Analyst, and former Crystal Palace captain, Craig Foster.

SBS doubles free-to-air NBL coverage in 2017/18
SBS is set to increase its national free-to-air coverage of the National Basketball League, making more of the sport accessible to all Australians.
After a successful partnership with the NBL in the 2016/17 season, SBS doubles its coverage, broadcasting two live games from each round in HD across SBS and SBS VICELAND, with live streaming and catch up on SBS On Demand.
SBS coverage of the NBL begins with the Round One clashes between the Sydney Kings V Adelaide 36ers Saturday October 7 at 5.30pm (AEDT) on SBS VICELAND, and New Zealand Breakers V Cairns Taipans on Sunday October 8 at 3pm (AEDT) on SBS.
SBS Director of Sport, Ken Shipp said: “Basketball is booming and has become the second highest participation sport in Australia. It’s the kind of sport which can bring together diverse communities through a shared common passion.
“We are excited to be back in partnership with the NBL and to be bringing basketball free-to-air to all Australians on SBS. This increased coverage demonstrates SBS’s continued dedication to building the profile of, and love for home-grown domestic sport in Australia.”
NBL Chief Executive Jeremy Loeliger said: “SBS’s decision to double its coverage is a strong endorsement of the league as it celebrates its 40th season.

The start of the 2017/18 NBL Season will coincide with landmark games involving Sydney Kings, Melbourne United and the Brisbane Bullets, in the NBA pre-season in October.
Games are scheduled on both SBS and youth-focused channel SBS Viceland, presenting a great opportunity for the NBL to reach Australians of all ages.
SBS’s LIVE coverage of the National Basketball League will be Saturdays 5.30pm (AEDT) on SBS VICELAND and Sundays 3pm (AEDT) on SBS, from October 7, with live streaming and catch up via SBS On Demand.

NITV broadcasts live action from the 2017 NSW Rugby League Koori Knockout
NITV will be at the heart of the 47th NSW Rugby League Koori Knockout when Sydney’s Leichhardt Oval hosts a force of regional and metropolitan NSW teams to battle it out for rugby league glory. For the 10th year running, NITV is the official media partner and sole TV broadcaster of this pivotal sporting event.
Known as one of the largest gatherings of Indigenous peoples in the world, the Koori Knockout is rugby league at its best, with more than 100 teams across the men’s, women’s and junior tournaments competing for the top prize.
NITV will bring full day live match coverage of the semi-final and grand final clashes on Sunday 1 and Monday 2 October. Commentating from the Oval are presenters Brad Cooke, Djuro Sen and Daniel Conifer who will bring viewers exclusive interviews and news, while analysts will include Owen Craigie, Ronald Griffiths and Jodan Perry. Jodan will also be on the side-lines with Tanisha Stanton for the first reactions from the ground.
NITV’s NRL Footy Show, Over the Black Dot will air the Koori Knockout Live Gala Draw on Wednesday 27 September at 9pm. Live crosses to the Wests Ashfield Rugby League Club and black carpet interviews with high-profile players will be included in the coverage, as well as reviews of NSW and Queensland Cup competitions and the Murri Carnival.
