‘Save Our Voices’ Campaign

That ain’t right. Rate payers money used to broadcast potentially partisan content. Not to mention the potential for allies of those in power to make some money with little to no oversight in its production.

Really fantastic!!!

Agree 30 minutes is too long. Should be 5-10 minutes fat. And should cover actual news ñot just be an infomercial for the city Council

Could they sell advertising and turn it into a revenue source for the city?

Hang on a minute…isn’t Dubbo Regional Council the one who’s mayor has had some problems with how Prime7 Local News has covered them in the not overly distant past?

My point exactly. There is opportunity for ratepayer financed “news” that does not reflect all ratepayers and residents to come out and cause a lot of ruckus.

That sort of behaviour by the mayor is unacceptable and such behaviour should mean that he’s sacked. It’s similar to the QLD Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk refusing to be interviewed on 4BC.
Ultimately such news should really be presented by a local independent outlet

… you mean a one-sided beat-up by Media Watch about how people who call themselves journalists are pure as the driven snow and always right whereas local politicians are always dastardly and always in the wrong?

I must see a completely different Media Watch to the one you receive, because I very seldom see that program praise journalists. Far more often to see criticism of poor media standards/practices on the show!

And before you ask, no I don’t think Media Watch (or Prime7 Local News) are perfect. I am however, perfectly fine with asking questions about a regional council’s decision to launch an online local news service when they’ve previously had problems with at least one mainstream media organisation’s coverage.

… I agree with you, but I’m sure we are going to see much more of this kind of thing happening as the now centralist media organisations continue to reduce local services …

and in that video is also a reference to sky news on win which i thought was interesting.

They used to get good output from WIN. I recall watching an interview segment during All Australian News a few months back with the Dubbo mayor despite not having a local bulletin anymore. Their only television news now is Prime and as discussed, the mayor is not on the best terms with them.

Solid little bulletin, but for a region with a fairly modern logo and corporate image that graphics package looks like it’s from a PowerPoint template.

This is quite a good little promo video for their services also, the graphics are much better.

I think he means digital as in online, not just broadcast.

or Daniel Andrews refusing to be interviewed on 3AW

Think he’s refused to be interviewed by Neil Mitchell specifically

Doesn’t matter any political person doesn’t have the right to decide who they will be interviewed by.

… I think you’ll find they have every right … the same as any other individual …

Not when they are voted in by the public they should not be allowed to decide who they will be interviewed by. If a certain presenter puts pressure on them to answer certain questions or doesn’t abide by their agenda that is no reason to reject a genuine request to appear on a certain program.

… once again, that’s simply your opinion … the reality is different …

And Nine, despite their Dubbo newsroom closing they frequently make the drive up from Orange to cover news in the Dubbo area.

If a politician wants to alienate their constituents by not appearing on certain programs or stations, then so be it
