How could I forget “The 4 Square Numbers Game”??
Not sure if this has ever been posted. It’s only had 70 views on YouTube. Includes some of the shows I mentioned earlier, lots of local personalities and a few faces that some from outside SEQ would know.
Is that the same studio they’re in now or have they moved?
Same studio.
As opposed to the one produced by WIN Wollongong that got syndicated
I do remember NRTV, NEN and DDQ at one point aired the WIN version because my oldest brother tried telling me WIN owned 10-4-5a (DDQ). This usually aired weekday mornings but during school holidays (except Christmas) DDQ would move Jazzercise to the 2:30pm timeslot.
Later when NRTV and DDQ stopped screening Jazzercise, they aired Jazz Fitness (a 5-10 minute show), which from memory DDQ screened it at 1:30pm whilst NRTV screened it around 9:30am. Later moving it to 11am. I believe that NRTV produced it from their Gold Coast studios but happy to be proven wrong
Jazz Fitness was produced out of Coffs Harbour with Jan Strom as host. She was later a councillor on Coffs Harbour City Council.
Well…they did. Eventually.
I vaguely recall BCV-8 showing a program produced by WIN-4 in the 1980s as well. Might’ve been Jazzercise or a children’s program.
NBN Continuity bumper c1981
This is probably more of a tv history question, but I am curious as to how many Ten network stations and affiliate didnt air the US TV show, Studs. I know NRTV opted for alternative programming, but did any others fill the half hour slot with alternative programming
In my trawls through the VIC regional newspapers last week, I was able to ascertain some aggregation start dates for some regions for each broadcaster. I’ve summarised my findings below
Albury
1 Jan 1992 - all three networks
Ballarat
SCN - either 22 or 23 January 1992 (there were delays as per article A below)
Prime - 1 March 1992 (as per ad B below)
Bendigo
VIC TV - 1 Jan 1992 (though the only hitch was the 6pm bulletin as per Article C below)
Prime - 1 March 1992
Mildura was not part of aggregation, but I did see Prime started there on 1 July 1997.
Article A (from the ‘Ballarat Courier’ Tues 21 Jan 1992)
Article B (from the ‘Ballarat Courier’ Sat 29 Feb 1992 - similar ads ran in the ‘Bendigo Advertiser’)
Article C - VIC TV Bendigo news hitch (from the ‘Bendigo Advertiser’ Thurs 2 Jan 1992).
Shepparton had SCN from 1 January 1992.
Good to know, do you know when Prime started there? I’m guessing 1 March in line with Ballarat and Bendigo.
I don’t know, sorry. I was there in January but back in Melbourne soon after.
Prime started test transmissions in Shepparton on 14 February 1992, full service commenced 1 March 1992.
Southern Cross (GLV46) had outage issues with its transmitter on Mt Major from 1992-1994.
Nobody could fix it for 3 years?
I came across this on a recent search. There is a goldmine of old TNQ7/NQTV material on here. This clip I think is from 1977 and they would have still been operating out of the Mt Stuart studio at the time. Board inspection of Queen's Hotel for new studio TNQ7 | Townsville City Council
The video also features Ken Sutcliffe but only the back of him.
