Not sure if I’ve posted these before, but here are some pics of the interior of the CTC7 studios on Black Mountain not long after the station started. These were from slides taken by my grandfather who was in attendance as my mother was appearing on an afternoon kids show. These slides were dug up by a relative when my mother passed away in 2021.

A station closedown from NBN from late 1991. This was just before NBN was expanded across the Northern NSW aggregated market (31 December 1991), so the roll call of stations in the sign-off was about to get a lot longer??

Thanks Radiohead.
NBN had quite the reach with all those relays.

Was it a legal requirement to name-check all the relays at startup and close?

I don’t think so

Rumor has it DDQ had plans to move its relay channels (4 and 5A) to the UHF band.

What do you mean rumour has it? It actually happened, yes it was planned. As they were changing from 10 to 0 they were also anticipating changes for 4 (to 42) and 5A (to 65), which is what led them to rebranding 10-4-5A to Vision TV.

Ok it wasn’t a rumor, I apologize.

Sorry I didn’t mean to sound so abrupt.

But FWIW this was the note I got from Vision TV in June 1988 after I’d written to them. As well as 10 changing to 0, other changes were clearly on the radar.

Looking at the logo of Vision TV, anyone who didn’t know could easily think it was a Christian religion channel, the name Vision TV wouldn’t last too long because sometime in 1990 it was changed to Star Television, then WIN Television. I saw a video on YouTube recently, they were still using the Vision TV name in March 1990.

I am sure I have posted this before but just for possible interest, this is a flyer to advertisers to plug Vision TV’s credentials:

A lot of people at DDQ weren’t fans of the name Vision TV.

Just checked an old Radio & TV Stations Book from 2008 and they indeed were on 42 (Southern Downs) and 65 (Toowoomba).

I do wonder whether the Star Television name may have eventually spread south of the border too, onto NRTV (which DDTV had merged with during 1990), if WIN had not done their thing and the QLD stations still stuck with Ten. Of course it may still have taken time given NNSW aggregation wasn’t due for another year.

Of course the more general what-if of “what would’ve happened if QTV kept a hold of the Nine programs” - especially after Nine under Bond were told to get rid of some of their stake in them - is of course a thought experiment with many different possible answers in the short term, if not the longer.

From what I can find, the name Star Television didn’t start until the sometime in the second half of 1990 for both RTQ & DDQ.
