Regional Radio (non-SCA)

Judging by past conduct of Tully Sugar, I very much doubt they understand nor care about this. Another cost of business to them.

I’m sure they have their eye on the balance sheet if the stations switched to the abyss of 2SM network programming and clients dropped their airtime.

Thank you @TV.Cynic for adding this to the discussion.

A very odd line for a government agency to use in a media release announcing a court-enforced undertaking

Agree @AustralianAerial, that strange line wasn’t lost on me either. It’s peculiar to say the least and from what I can gather, it’s a line from Tully Sugar’s submission.

ACMA’s external comms staff experience seems to be as equally decimated as the staff in planning and field operations. It’s clear the writer isn’t experienced with such releases and the fundamentals of attribution and quotes.

Rod doesn’t have a good history of staying anywhere long, wonder if this will change?

Copied from a Facebook post. See below

Some good news from Flow FM.

The network has completed installation of the 93.9FM service at Bunnaloo in the Murray electorate.

This means Moama to Morago, Blighty to Barham and Perricoota to Pretty Pine can hear Flow FM.

This adds to 88.7 coverage north of Berrigan to Jerilderie and 96.9 coverage at Wentworth in the Far South West.

Flow was successful in receiving NSW Government funding for services in Lake Cargelligo which will get coverage into Hillston and to the Wallanthery and Lake Brewster areas.

Great news!

Looks like their stream is now back too!

I gather no news on 101.5 Lake Cargelligo.

Would be good to see them in Bourke too on their allocated 102.5 since Breeze and Rebel left town.

Looks like late 2024 for Lake Cargelligo.

Interesting!

I didn’t know Central Darling was proposed. I will have to dig into the ACMA site and suss out their frequencies.

I couldn’t find a map like that on their website (which looks very basic). Where did you see that?

I got it from a local MP Facebook page. I don’t know where she got it from.

I thought the Central Darling area had the Rebel.

Of those towns, only Wilcannia once had Rebel (104.7) but it switched off, presumably not profitable enough

Meanwhile the eastern/northern Flinders Ranges districts in SA still await the 88.7 Hawker and 101.3 Wilmington services that were approved nearly 10 years ago and are on the ACMA register but for some reason have never made it to air. So to hear they’re expanding rapidly into NSW and VIC while not completing their designated SA coverage is a tad disappointing.

This is of particular significance now that 5AU has left the AM band so basically a moderate to fringe signal of 5CS is all you get in these areas commercial-wise (minus the low powered FM repeaters in the Quorn township).

101.3 was on air when i was in the Barossa Valley in 2019. Not sure about 88.7

These maps used to be on their website around 8 years ago. They use to have Vic/nsw on the same map. Shame they are updating them but no longer making them public

I remember those ones! Thanks for posting.

Interesting that 93.9 and 101.5 were proposed to be on air 8-9 years ago but are only now in progress.

And 90.5 in the Alpine region isn’t on air yet either!

Wonder what exactly was the funding program?

5CS probably more ‘local’ in terms of commercials and local info talk breaks than Flow?

Where in the Mid North does The Bluff FM coverage stop? How far north do you have to go? Appreciate @Weeman88 for for insight of raising this.

Was there a problem with the 5AU mast? Or just wanted to go FM and save money operating the site?

That’s usually the reason for converting to FM (to save on operating costs, probably easier to sell ad spots if you’re an FM station too)…

You can get some reception of the Bluff FM’s at Yunta
Same at Woomera

5AU’s TX site was ok it never really got out very well due to the ground conductivity, also the transmitters were a bit sad
5CS on the other hand… the building was nearly condemned.

I’d say Grant’s went FM for the extra revenue… its really hard selling AM in a town of mostly FM’s

Plot done on the Nautel website which looks pretty right to me.
The bluff is a great site and gets out really well
