They want me on a job tomorrow morning, that was quick. Its for Energex ,maybe they’ll be doing maintenance on power poles and need traffic slowed around there. It’s not far from home,I could walk but I’ll be lazy and drive and park near the job site

Good idea. You can leave some stuff in the car then, like lunch. Good luck!

I’ve completed my first 12 hours out of 20 so far of work placement as a traffic controller. The last 2 days weren’t to hot ,all good so far.I’m getting more used to using my two way radio,I’ve forgotten to turn my bat back to STOP a few times after I’ve let traffic through,I’m still learning :blush:That’s why I need to be supervised for now.it’s also good that I’ve only had to work on quiet suburban streets so far and not on a busy main road

Why do they have to advertise anyway?

Because they deliver (apparently).

No but why would they need to advertise? It’s like if the courts system were to begin advertising. There’s no need.

Yes sorry, my reply was meant to be a joke based on their slogan.

Another job tomorrow for Altus Traffic (still unpaid on work placement)Energex job again about 2 blocks away. Not a qualified TC as yet ,have to finish my 20 hours placement, only 8 to go.Next week I’ll lodge my traffic controller accreditation form with Qld Transport. I can apply to traffic management companies and see if I get offered employment,if I am ,do it for a while, see if I want to do this job long term.
I’m also going to an employment agency this week who helps anyone with barriers to finding employment ,then I can tell them what I might be able to do and if they suggest I do another course etc.

Good luck with everything. Have you ever thought of doing voluntary work? Not full time, just perhaps a few hours per week. It’s a great way to boost confidence while at the same time helping others. I’ve volunteered for years via the Red Cross, firstly at the Childrens Hospital in the emergency department and now I work on the phones when there is a disaster. It’s so rewarding and it’s a great feeling to help people who are having a bad time.

I helped out in a charity shop as a volunteer a long time ago when I was last unemployed,in the early 90s. I could go to my local Vinnies or Salvos store and ask if they need volunteer helpers.
I didn’t do the Altus traffic job today, didn’t feel up to it,bad indigestion last night, couldn’t sleep :confused:I’m not getting paid as yet for the traffic control work placement so doesn’t matter so much

Wasn’t sure where to post this.
Dreamworld has announced major plans for 2023/24 that will see major redevelopments.

This will include rebranding the current Dreamworks area into Kenny & Belinda’s Dreamland, ABC Kids and Wiggles World will relocate to this area too as they try to focus on more local media brands and partnerships.

The current ABC Kids space will be occupied by a new land called Rivertown.

they also need to thank about admission costs. i live in Brisbane and yearly make the decision - do get a dreamworld yearly pass (that includes skytower observation deck and white water world) for $149 (no point spending $109 for just dreamworld) or WVTP that includes Movieworld, seaworld, wet n wild and paradise country for $219?

I normally wait for the sale and get WVTP for the same price as dreamworld / WWW, but even at $219 its much better value than dreamworld and whitewater world alone, especilly as with 2 kids - one who is curious about the world and loves animals and the other a thrill seeker seaworld is a perfect day out.

I would say get this one. Wet N Wild have more slides than WWW and MW has more rides than DW. Sea World is also good with new rides coming out on Friday (a wooden coaster/sky swinger) so I would get the VRTP ones. If I lived on the GC I would try to get both but unfortunately I live in Victoria (we do have good ones here like Funfields and Gumbuya World though, with the latter getting new coasters this year)

IMO as a coaster enthusiast, the new WOO additions to MW and the new DW additions are very exciting to me. I discuss them more in depth on Parkz (a forum for coaster enthusiasts, my name is the same as on here). The only bad thing about merging Dreamworks and ABC is that some rides will be retired due to space.
