Radio History

I was pretty sure the first one in Sydney was 1990 when 2Day had Mike Hammond for breakfast, the one I’m talking about was this idiot character: Tim Pie, and then a year later, Rob McCasker had Warren Lemon. But yes, the way you mentioned it, that was usually the nature of those idiot quizes. That was the catalyst for me turning off those stations. I vaguely remember one morning in September 1990, Mike and Tim mocking the Nolan’s, “Pull myself together”. Because they were wearing yellow raincoats in the video clip, I think they were giving away a few yellow raincoats as the prize that day. I rang Jamie Angie up that evening requesting it, line hung up straight away, I think he’d rather have played John Mellencamp’s “Check it out” for the thousandth time.

Here’s the 5KA standby tape from 1984 that was on Frankster’s Archives before his family tragedy:

In future it might be helpful if you post links without spaces in them :slightly_smiling_face:

They also had a version of the same Rhythm of the City song that 3DB had. 3DB’s song came out in 1980.

Thanks. I heard this when I was in Adelaide once at the end of 1981 and always thought it said Rhythm of the summer. Guess I was wrong.
