10 is still main at Artarmon & backup at Willoughby, the BA contract after 10 left TXA hasn’t started yet.

I was under the impression Ten had moved its permanent facility to Gore Hill after the much publicised problems it had with TX Australia. I stand corrected if that’s the case.

In Sydney TEN have the old ABC TX at Gore Hill as critical emergency, but they are still using the Artarmon main TX & Willoughby backup TX & TX Australia is still doing operations & maintenance on 10 TX’s at all sites.
When BA take over (not until later this year sometime), a new TX will be installed (owned by BA) for 10 at Artarmon, & Artarmon will still be the main site for 10 with Gore Hill as backup.

I still think Lite & Easy was a format ahead of its time. It’s basically what Smooth launched with.

From TRV, the launch of 3TT Melbourne on 2nd April 1988 (32 years to the day this coming Thursday).
This also includes the final sign-off of 3DB, which preceded 3TT.
3TT converted to FM on 24th June 1990 as TTFM, and was later rebranded as Mix 101.1 in mid-2001, and then KIIS 1011 in January 2015.

how many of you here remember 4EB Brisbane being on 1485khz? I didn’t until I scored a sticker off Ebay. I was informed that 4EB was on 1485 around 1981 ~ 1983 before moving to 1053khz

After doing further research, it seems that is exactly what happened.
Mix 106.5 Sydney replaced their original purple/green/pink logo with the blue/yellow/red one in May 2001, not long after several on air presenter (David Rymer, Trevor Sinclair and Rob Duckworth were out while Jason Bouman, Mardi Cole and Solomon Gates were in - Bogart Torelli and of course Richard Mercer kept their timeslots) and behind the scenes changes:

Anyway…it’d seem likely that ARN had the wheels in motion for the station launches/rebrands in other markets (with 106.5 Sydney, 101.1 Melbourne, 97.3 Brisbane, 102.3 Adelaide and later 106.3 Canberra all having their own version of the blue/yellow/red Mix logo) as far back as May 2001, if not earlier. Certainly the Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide stations all had their own slightly different versions of what was essentially the same television commercial with the audio equalizer-esque logo animation:

I’m not so sure whether there was a 97.3 Brisbane version of that commercial, however they definitely had versions of the “Songs that say something” TVCs which were running about a year later:
Yes I know the formation of the Mix Network and their associated ad campaigns during the Early 2000s isn’t something many of Media Spy’s radio enthusiasts are likely to look back on as a good thing for radio (especially since it resulted in the demise of local brands TT FM and 5AD-FM) but at the same time, I hope my write-up about this branding has been an interesting read all the same!

Yes we had the equaliser ads in Brisbane for 973. As it was our first brand new station in 11 years, 973 ads were everywhere. All over TV, buses, taxis, and the odd billboard.

Which regional town was the first to get an AM commercial station as a relay on FM?
My thinking/answer… is 4MK Airlie Beach QLD which I’m pretty sure has been on air continuously on 91.5 since 1985.
Any thoughts?

actually Thredbo had an FM relay of 2XL since 1981. I remember that being there on holidays that year.
