Felgate is broadcasting from the city ahead of its annual International Race Day from Sha Tin Racecourse this Sunday.
Seems to be link problems in QLD today - a storm went through SEQ recently. 1008 and DAB+ are ok but 89.7 audio keeps cutting out.
4TAB on 89.7 the latest station in SEQ with issues - blank carrier being broadcast. Other TAB stations ok as well as Brebel and Breeze.
Input for 4TAB 89.7 gone again - blank carrier.
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but that’s not a bad idea to have SEN run RSN. They’ll likely rebrand it to SENTrack. I think for a racing station, taking more SEN content isn’t a bad thing. However, for a music station like SEN Spirit to the old 2CH & 4KQ, taking SEN content is a bad thing.
I think Hutchy’s plan will be to shutter SEN Track, as acquiring RSN would give him access to the one thing that Track lacks—live racing broadcasts. Also, given the history behind the station, I don’t think even he would be stupid enough to torch a station with a 100-year legacy, even if they’re his rival.
I think we’ll most likely see a ‘shuffling’ of on-air talent along with some programming between stations (e.g., Breakfast with Harf on SEN), with RSN refocused into an all-racing format.
Agreed. 3UZ will become SEN Track. The signal on 927 gets out way better than 1593.
In fact another move could be shifting the main SEN station off 1116 to 927. Then SEN Track on 1116. But the RSN owners might not be thrilled by that idea.
I don’t think it would be a matter of torching it - the way he did 2CH and 4KQ - I would think it would just be a re-brand. I doubt they will keep a separate brand. I think it would come under the SEN brand umbrella.
Wouldn’t a ‘SEN-ification’ of RSN be seen as a negative though?
Probably, but it hasn’t stopped them in the past.
There was a special report by Nick McCallum on the centenary of 3UZ/RSN on 7News Melbourne this evening.

If Hutchy was able to own RSN instead of just running it, you could see a bunch of frequency swaps.
Such as in Tassie, with the Racing stations being put on the 16xx frequencies and the stronger commercial frequencies taking SEN.
Likewise in Shepparton and Ballarat, where RSN could get shoved to a LPFM frequency and the AM frequencies take SEN.
