The finish line was at Gili Meno, a tiny island off Lombok, Indonesia. Teams had to sign in on the reception book, on a podium perched above shallow water just off the beach.
Alfie and Owen arrived at the finish line just eight minutes ahead of Eugenie and Isabel, while the bottom two teams arrived one day later.
Brydie and Sharon, who were eliminated in Cambodia, did not find out the winning team until the five teams gathered at The Mayfair Townhouse in London six months after the race concluded, for the reunion episode.
Alfie revealed at the reunion that since the race ended, he had travelled solo to several countries, including Australia.

Following the conclusion of season 4 last week, 10’s website is now streaming season 5 from last year. After skipping China in season 4, the race this time actually started in China, in the small village of Huanghuacheng, north west of capital Beijing. The final checkpoint, where £20,000 was waiting for the winning team, was in the southernmost tip of India, Kanyakumari. In total, the players raced 14,000 km across China, Nepal and India in 51 days, with a budget of £2,200, the lowest in the show’s history.
There are nine episodes in season 5, eight competition episodes and the reunion.
10 has bought Celebrity Race Across the World from the BBC and is streaming the show online. Three seasons have been made so far, the most recent season aired in the UK in November to December last year. The celebrity version is shorter than the original version at only six episodes per season. There are no eliminations and the winning team receives no prizemoney.
The famous faces embarking on this epic 7,500 km journey are: Brit award-winning singer-songwriter Ella Eyre and childhood friend Nana; veteran sports broadcaster Jeff Stelling and his son Matt; influencer Princess Andre with her brother, musician Junior Andre; and acclaimed singer, songwriter and musician Sam Ryder with his best friend and tour manager Kaz.
Setting off from the vibrant city of Kuching, in the Malaysian state of Sarawak in North West Borneo, and the gateway to the island’s vast wilderness, these pairs will tackle the most formidable race yet. Traversing prehistoric jungles and the heartlands of Borneo, to reach five check points across three countries and two continents, ultimately aiming for the sunbaked southern tip of Australia and the finish line in Melbourne.
I hope 10 will buy this season given the Australian leg, and stream and/or broadcast it ASAP.
