Sore losers?

The tram is the relief to traffic on two busy arterials.

Yet it would probably end up being quicker to avoid the tramā€¦

The M1 Pacific Motorway near Palm Beach looks as though itā€™s currently being upgraded from 2 to 3 lanes each way, so that will help as well.

So some Karen moves to the Gold Coast and hates development. Cry me a river.

Paywall. Why are they being delayed again?

The first train set began testing three years ago.

Agree, this has taken FAR too long.

Apparently, itā€™s due to TfNSW working with the main rail union & the safety regulator to implement an operating model for the new fleet, which includes changes to the trackside infrastructure and undertake surveying across the network to determine the scope of work required for infrastructure modifications.

They couldnā€™t have figured this out 2-3 years ago during initial testing?

I believe initially TfNSW/previous NSW government was happy to use the onboard cameras (that passed safety standards) to help the guard load and unload customers, but the union wasnā€™t happy with this. Obviously they have come to some type of agreement.

Public transport fares in Victoria will go up on July 1. The rate of 8.7% is higher than inflation according to Public Transport Users Association. Itā€™s the first fare increase in 18 months.

Roughly the same around Transperths July price hike.

Iā€™m thankful Iā€™m now eligible for half price fares from TransLink ,because Iā€™m a Job Seeker (whoā€™s not looking for a job most of the time)
I can travel to the RSPCA on 2 trains or 1 bus then a train (Wacol a suburb south west of Brisbane between Brisbane and Ipswich))for my volunteer shifts every second day and save money on petrol

Trackwork is very inconvenient!

Took me 1 hour 20 minutes this morning to get 17 km from Southbank to Chadstone Shopping Centre.

Trackwork meant trams stopping at Batman Hill instead of Southern Cross and replacement buses from Burnley to Oakleigh. So I needed 1 tram, 1 train and 2 buses to go 17 km! :anguished:

Coming back was much better as I hopped on the 624 to St Kilda and tram 96 to Southbankā€¦ a much more reasonable 1 hour 5 minutes :slightly_smiling_face: and as an added bonus i got see parts of Carnegie, Caulfield and Ripponlea that Iā€™ve never seen or knew that existed!

By comparison driving or taxi is 25 minutes but obviously a lot more expensive.

Did you know there is a free shuttle between Melbourneā€™s Federation Square and Chadstone Shopping Centre? It is very convenient especially during periods of trackwork between Melbourne CBD and Oakleigh. You need to book a seat in advance at Chadstone website beforehand.

I do remember hearing about that, but looks like you need to book a few days in advance to get the 10.30 bus out (even Monday 10.30 is booked out already).
