Yep - look for a myki flag out the front of the newsagent or 7-Eleven. Enjoy your time here!

I bought my last one from a Myki machine at Southern Cross Station

 Lygon street will be the first thing iā€™ll be checking out!

Ahh yes, but no where near where I am staying though, but will be passing through there when I head to Geelong later on in the week.

If you have an android phone you also can make a digital myki in the Wallet app. 7-elevens and any full size myki ticket machine will also have them, so any station and some bigger tram stops.

Time for a Sunday morning rant.

Can the arseholes on the train from Central to Newcastle do the followingā€¦

  1. Get your feet off the seat so people can sit down
  2. Get your bags off the seat so people can sit down.
  3. If there are two people in a 3 people seat, make space so people can sit down.
  4. If your sleep, wake up so points 1, 2 and 3 can be done. I dont care if youā€™re hung over after your Toilet Duck induced binge last night, dont be an arsehole.
  5. We dont want to hear your shit tastes in audio and visual entertainment. Put earphones in or shut it off.
  6. Your conversations are way too loud. Shut the fuck up.

Not exclusive to Newcastle line Iā€™m afraid.

I know. I need to be dictator of everything, this sort of thing would be made illegal and punishable by being thrown off the moving train.

Thanks for pointing out the hypocrisy.

In my defence, it wasnt public transport, the stadium was not packed, I got my feet off the seat in 30 seconds, and I was trying to make a comedic point.

I see this behaviour on trains in SEQ also ,people putting their feet or bags on seats.Being noisy in the designated quiet carriages .:-1:
Anyone who brings their push bike on a train in peak hours, not allowed
Iā€™m so thankful that I donā€™t have to travel on a train in peak hours anymore,

Whatā€™s up with melbournians all packing on the first tram that arrived are they not aware that they run every 10 minutes or so? :stuck_out_tongue:

It has been an interesting time catching the trams around Melbourne :hatched_chick:

To be fair, this sort of behaviour isnā€™t unique to Melbourne.
When I traveled to Tokyo, Iā€™d always be surprised by people choosing to all shove into the first train that comes along, despite another one that was much more empty arriving mere minutes away.

Also, after a while of being in Melbourne you find that the next tram/train isnā€™t necessarily guaranteed to arrive on time (or at all), especially on a Sunday. And by then youā€™ll have had a lot more people turn up and you just end up in another sardine tin.

Because people are stupid. Not a uniqely Melbourne thing, happens in Sydney too.

Iā€™m guilty of this, 10 minutes is 10 minutes, and I hate being outdoors.

We just wait for hte next couple trams to go as people rush onto those and then we just catch the third. Lucky for us our apartment is on swanston street/queensberry street. Just outside the free tram zone.

The new provider is called Conduent and will begin its new 15 year contract on December 1 this year. Myki cards will remain valid for the next two years of transition period.

Conduent, based in New Jersey in the US, also runs Adelaideā€™s public transport ticketing system.

Great to hear. Hope thereā€™ll still be an option for a pre-paid card. Useful for situations such as for kids or school groups or travellers not wanting international fees.
