Eight Melbourne trams will be given a makeover as part of the Melbourne Festival. The first tram Tramjatra, which celebrates the friendship between Melbourne and Kolkata, was revealed today. The other seven trams will be gradually unveiled between now and April 2018.

Melbourne unintentionally doing the public a favour and allowing them to sober up, thus limiting public nuisance.

Too bad in Perth you have to sit on the train facing each other. What moron thought that was a good idea?

They have that all over the world?

Some carriages have them facing opposite directions…

That was the '13 plan. this time they’ve not aimed so far. Here is what they’re doing now.

• Completing the Forrestfield-Airport Link
• Extending the Joondalup Line to Yanchep - Project overview
• Extending the Thornlie Line to Cockburn Central - Project overview
• Planning and building the new Morley-Ellenbrook Line
• Extending the Armadale Line to Byford
• Relocating Midland Station and extending the Midland Line to Bellevue
• Building a new station at Karnup on the Mandurah Line
• Removing level crossings on the Armadale, Midland and Fremantle lines
• Planning for an inner-suburb light rail system, improving bus services and circle routes and creating better synergies between cycling infrastructure and public transport.

Ugh, that still looks amazing. PTA in Perth seems to be very well run.

They need to reform Translink here in Brisbane.

The carriages on MTR (metro) in Hong Kong all have seats beneath windows, facing the opposite side.

Metro trains are a different beast. Short trips with trains that have lots of doors where most people will stand.

How do people manage for 30 minutes sitting like that facing each other? No wonder there are so many train fight videos from Perth on YouTube.
