Cool logos Paddy. How do you make them?
@nztv I usually make the logos using Microsoft PowerPoint.
Hereâs a customised logo for my mock media and entertainment company, Patrick Te Pou Broadcasting Limited, which is similar to that of the old BCNZ (Broadcasting Corporation of New Zealand) but privately owned and encompasses PTV Network New Zealand, the Independent Radio Service (IRS) and Independent Local Radio (ILR) as separate, fictional broadcasters.
Its logo is identical to Media Spy but, according to @nztv, I created it using Microsoft PowerPoint.
According to? it 100% is.
Why not try a new, unique idea, rather than just taking something existing?
Technically, you are correct.
But.
Paddy didnât align the text to the left like Media Spy does. So it is different from Media Spyâs logo.
But only just.
NEW LOOK WEEKDAYS ON PTV PEACH
@SA_TV Below is a mock press release.
PTV Network New Zealand today announced that there will be changes to the weekday schedule on its female-skewed general entertainment channel, PTV Peach.
From Monday 4 March 2024 PTV Peach will kick off its weekday programming at the new time of 7am with a new, early morning block of US game shows - Master Minds, Split Second, Switch and Tug of Words - never before seen on NZ TV.
Hosted by Brooke Burns, Master Minds (at 7am) will pique viewersâ interests as three contestants go head-to-head against three trivia âMaster Mindsâ (led by Mark Labbett - aka âThe Beastâ from The Chase) in a series of intense rounds. As each round progresses the player with the lowest score on each team is eliminated, leaving only the top competitor and top Master Mind to face off in the Ultimate Trivia Challenge.
Following Master Minds at 7.30am will be a brand new version of the beloved US game show, Split Second, featuring John Michael Higgins as host. In this exciting format players must choose from three different trivia questions, vying for the chance to win US$10,000 in the rapid-fire bonus round.
At 8am weâll have Switch, featuring Jeff Hephner as host. Five players will compete in this game, positioning themselves behind large numbers 1-5. After each trivia question is asked, players with correct answers will move towards the number 1 spot while those with incorrect answers will move towards the number 5 spot. The ultimate goal is to finish the third round in the number 1 position, earning the chance to play the bonus round for US$10,000.
Rounding out the early morning game show block at 8.30am will be Tug of Words, hosted by Samantha Harris. This fast-paced format is based on the popular playground game âTug-O-Warâ and requires teams of two to answer word-clue questions correctly in order to pull the flag on the tug of war rope to their side.
PTV Peachâs weekday programming will continue at 9am with the best of Judge Judy. For those who canât get enough of the no-nonsense judge, PTV Peach has got you covered with handpicked episodes of her famous courtroom show.
Following Judge Judy, at 9.30am, will be Hot Bench, a spin-off of the popular show created by Judge Judy herself. This show features a panel of three judges, providing a fresh and interesting perspective on court cases. With brand new episodes Hot Bench is a favourite among viewers on PTV Peach.
At 10am PTV Peach introduces a new show to NZ audiences with Sherri. The talk show, hosted by Sherri Shepherd, features celebrity guests and everyday people discussing relatable and entertaining topics. With her witty humour and charisma Sherri is sure to be a hit with viewers.
Next up at 10.55am is The Jennifer Hudson Show, another new addition to NZ TV. This talk show, hosted by award-winning singer and actress Jennifer Hudson, focuses on empowering and inspiring women. With a mix of celebrity interviews, lifestyle segments, and self-help topics The Jennifer Hudson Show is a refreshing addition to the PTV Peach lineup.
As the morning progresses PTV Peach brings back some fan favourites with General Hospital at 11.50am, The Young and the Restless at 12.45pm, Days of Our Lives at 1.40pm and The Bold and the Beautiful at 2.35pm. These long-running daytime soaps have been absent from NZ TV for years, and fans are delighted to have them back on air with brand new episodes.
At 3.05pm PTV Peach will switch gears with The Kelly Clarkson Show, a talk show hosted by the famous singer and American Idol winner. With her infectious personality and famous guests Kelly delivers a fun and uplifting hour of television every day.
Late afternoons on PTV Peach will be dedicated to courtroom shows, starting at 4pm with Divorce Court. This show, featuring Judge Star Jones, deals with the often complicated and emotional world of divorce. Following Divorce Court, at 4.30pm, will be another new addition to NZ TV, Mathis Court with Judge Mathis. Judge Mathis brings his no-nonsense approach to resolving disputes among families, friends and enemies.
Next up, at 5pm, We the People with Judge Lauren Lake. This show, hosted by lawyer and personal relationship expert Judge Lauren Lake, settles real legal disputes of everyday people and will be new to NZ TV. With a mix of real-life drama and entertainment this show is sure to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
And to top off the weekday lineup, PTV Peach will bring the latest showbiz news and gossip with Entertainment Tonight at 5.30pm. Hosted by Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner, this show gives viewers an inside look at the latest goings-on in Hollywood, fresh off the satellite from the US.

MAJOR REBRAND FOR PTV NETWORK NEW ZEALAND
Below are the mock details.
PTV Network New Zealand (as a fictional broadcaster) is making big changes in its branding and logo as it prepares for its new season beginning in March 2024. The network, which was inspired by the BBC, has decided to have a complete overhaul of its identity in order to better reflect its diversified and inclusive programming.
The most noticeable change is the new logo (above), which is slightly different from BNZ (Bank of New Zealand). PTV Network New Zealand has ditched its old logo, which was reminiscent of the BBC logo, and has adopted a more modern and distinct look. The new logo features a bold and stylish font with the iconic Southern Cross added to it. This addition is a nod to the New Zealand identity and represents the country in its truest form.
The Southern Cross has always been a significant symbol for New Zealanders. It is a constellation of stars that can be seen from the Southern Hemisphere and is a symbol of national pride and unity. By incorporating it into their logo PTV Network New Zealand is showcasing its commitment to the country and its people. The network is proud to be 100% locally owned and operated, and the stars in the logo reflect this sentiment.
Moreover, the new logo is also a representation of PTV Network New Zealandâs mission to entertain and inform through a diverse range of channels and programming. From news, sport and current affairs to general entertainment, lifestyle, drama, comedy, movies, documentaries and factuals, along with childrenâs and youth programming and music television, the network offers something for everyone. The bold and modern font used in the logo exudes confidence and appeals to a wider audience. It also reflects the networkâs determination to stay relevant and ahead of the curve in the ever-evolving media landscape.
Apart from the logo, PTV Network New Zealand has also developed a new branding strategy that focuses on connecting with local communities and showcasing the diversity of New Zealand. The network plans to do this through various marketing and promotional campaigns that will involve collaborations with local businesses and community events. This not only strengthens the networkâs brand but also allows it to have a meaningful impact on the society it serves.
The revamp of PTV Network New Zealandâs logo and branding comes at a time when the media industry is constantly changing, and competition is becoming tougher. In order to stay relevant and continue to be a leading network in New Zealand, it was necessary for the network to adapt and evolve. With its new look and branding PTV Network New Zealand is ready to take on the challenges and provide its audience with quality entertainment and information.
In conclusion, the complete overhaul of PTV Network New Zealandâs logo and branding marks an important milestone in the networkâs journey. The new logo, with its BNZ-inspired design and inclusion of the Southern Cross, represents the networkâs commitment to the country and its people. With its new branding strategy, PTV Network New Zealand aims to not only entertain and inform but also connect with the local community. As the network prepares for its new season, all eyes will be on PTV Network New Zealand and it is safe to say that it is ready to shine brighter than ever before.
Below are the logos for the following PTV Network New Zealand channels and brands (e.g. PTV News, PTV Sport), featuring the new logo:
PTV NETWORK NZ TO LAUNCH NEW CURRENT AFFAIRS PROGRAMMING
@greenpea @NuStraya Below are the mock details and phone numbers which, in real life, do not yet exist.
PTV Network New Zealand today announced the launch of two new programmes for the 2024 season.
Eyewitness is set to premiere on PTV on Wednesday 6 March 2024 and Forum will follow on Wednesday 27 March 2024, under the guidance of the PTV News and Current Affairs department. Each programme promises to bring a unique perspective on important issues and stories that are relevant to the lives of everyday New Zealanders.
At 8.30pm every Wednesday PTV viewers will be treated to a gripping new investigative programme, Eyewitness. Hosted by journalist Rebecca Wright with reporters Jehan Casinader, Guyon Espiner and Ruwani Perera, this hour-long, documentary-style format will take a deep dive into national current affairs. The team will present in-depth and thought-provoking stories that will make viewers think about their impact on society. With a focus on one story per week Eyewitness promises to bring a fresh perspective to current affairs programming.
The launch of Eyewitness will also act as a complement to the networkâs flagship current affairs programme, 60 Minutes. This long-running show will continue to air in its usual timeslot on Sundays at 7.30pm on PTV, featuring the best of both national and international current affairs. With an experienced team of journalists including Garth Bray, Mark Crysell, Michael Morrah, Paula Penfold and Melanie Reid, 60 Minutes is sure to captivate Kiwis with its hard-hitting investigations and in-depth reporting.
Adding a new dimension to PTVâs programming is the monthly phone-in talk show, Forum. Hosted by renowned New Zealand journalist and broadcaster, John Campbell, this programme will invite viewers to share their opinions on the pressing issues of national relevance. A toll-free number, 0800 2 FORUM (0800 236 786), will be available for viewers to phone in and the lines will open from 6pm. For those who prefer texting, they can do so by sending a text with the keyword âFORUMâ and their comment to 4440, at a cost of 50 cents per text. The show will air in the same timeslot as Eyewitness, every four to five weeks, giving viewers a chance to have their voices heard on a variety of topics and discussions.
Overall, PTVâs 2024 season promises to keep viewers engaged, informed and entertained. With Eyewitness and Forum, the network aims to bring a diverse range of programming that caters for the interests and needs of all New Zealanders. So mark your calendars and be prepared to tune in to PTV on Wednesday 6 March 2024 for a line-up of quality shows that are sure to make a lasting impact.
Nice job @PaddyTePou. But, with Eyewitness rotating with Forum every four to five weeks in the same timeslot, would each program act as a companion program? For example, would Eyewitness focus more on hard-hitting current events across its run, and would the Forum program be used to discuss and debate key stories/themes covered by Eyewitness over the previous four or five weeks?
@greenpea Actually no. I created Eyewitness and Forum as standalone programmes, although they are intended for broadcast in the same timeslot as each other.
While Eyewitness is a documentary-style current affairs programme that focuses solely on hard-hitting investigations, similar to TVNZâs Assignment (in real life) from back in the day, Forum is not necessarily a spinoff from the Eyewitness programme and is also a phone-in talk show where, on a monthly basis, viewers are invited to phone in and have their say on the issues of relevance to us as New Zealanders rather than those covered by Eyewitness.
Nice logos bro.
@Damo Thank you. What about your logo designs for 2024?
Not really in the mood to do anything at the moment but I will eventually.
MAJOR REBRAND FOR PTV NETWORK NEW ZEALAND - UPDATE
@Damo @MichaelPower Below is a mock update; it contains channel numbering which does not yet exist, although, in real life, Three +1 is available on Freeview channel 13 and Al Jazeera, channel 20.
The broadcasting landscape in New Zealand is about to undergo a major transformation as PTV Network New Zealand (as a fictional broadcaster) announced over two weeks ago that it will be revamping its branding and logo. The move is in preparation for its new season beginning in March 2024 and it is set to bring new changes to the networkâs identity.
With a strong focus on diversity and inclusivity, PTV Network New Zealand has decided to have a complete overhaul of its branding and logo. The network aims to better reflect its diverse and inclusive programming by presenting a fresh and modern image to its audience.
But as we all know, change is inevitable and sometimes it comes with unforeseen circumstances. Due to these circumstances, there has been an update on the most noticeable change in the networkâs branding - the font.
Gone are the days of the bold and sophisticated Calibre font. PTV Network New Zealand has decided to opt for a more versatile and friendly font - Open Sans, to complement its new logo. This sans-serif typeface family has been specifically chosen to represent the network.
The switch from Calibre to Open Sans may seem like a subtle change, but it holds significant meaning. The new typeface adds a touch of friendliness and approachability to the networkâs image. This is in line with the networkâs goal of being more inclusive and relatable to its viewers.
The addition of the iconic Southern Cross to the logo is another noticeable change in the networkâs new branding. This is a nod to New Zealandâs identity and represents the country in its truest form. The Southern Cross is a significant symbol in the country, often used in its national flag and tourist promotions. Its inclusion in the logo further solidifies the networkâs commitment to showcasing New Zealandâs diverse culture and identity.
Apart from the font and the addition of the Southern Cross, the networkâs new logo remains true to its bold and stylish BNZ-inspired design.
PTV Network New Zealand has announced the rebranding of PTV XV to PTV 13! Not only that, but it will now be available on a new channel number - 13 - on the Freeview platform. This move is set to offer viewers a fresh and diverse range of content, catering specifically for the tastes of all Kiwis aged 25-54. With the rebranding PTV 13 aims to bring the best of traditional television and streaming services together, making it a one-stop-destination for entertainment.
PTV 13 is a general entertainment channel that will offer a mix of drama, comedy and factual content from PTV Network New Zealandâs streaming service, PTV+, as well as its partners such as Disney+, Netflix and Prime Video. This means viewers will now have access to an even wider range of content, including some of the most popular shows and movies from these streaming giants. PTV 13 will be on air from 6pm until around midnight, seven days a week, giving viewers ample time to catch up on their favourite shows and discover new ones.
But thatâs not all - PTV 13 has also thought about its younger viewers. A commercial-free block of safe and educational programming for preschoolers will air on the channel from 6am to 6pm on a daily basis. This will complement the daytime kids programming on PTV Shake, making it a perfect option for parents looking for quality and age-appropriate content for their little ones. The programming at this time is specially curated by early childhood specialists to stimulate young minds and encourage learning in a fun and engaging way.
PTV Gold, a channel specially designed for the âgolden yearsâ of all Kiwis aged 50+, will now have a supplementary channel called PTV Gold 2.
The PTV Gold brand is known for its high-quality British dramas and entertainment, classic movies, thought-provoking documentaries and the best in factual and arts programming - all of which are aimed at the baby boomer market. PTV Gold and PTV Gold 2 will each have a slightly different schedule, providing viewers with a variety of options to choose from.
PTV Gold will regularly be on air from 7am Mondays to Saturdays and 8am Sundays, running through to closedown around midnight Sunday to Thursday nights and until 2am on Friday and Saturday nights. PTV Gold 2, on the other hand, will run from noon until around midnight.
For scheduling information and exact closedown times, refer to your EPG or our TV Guide at ptvplus.co.nz.
To make way for PTV 13, PTV Rewind, a channel devoted exclusively to retro classics, will be moving to Freeview channel 20. Viewers can rest assured that its unique mix of classic dramas, comedies, light entertainment and kids shows - all drawn from the golden age of television - will remain unchanged. But the channelâs colour theme has changed to turquoise.
PTV NEWS CHANNEL
PTV Network New Zealand has made the difficult decision to say goodbye to the PTV News Channel.
However, this does not mean viewers will miss out on important news coverage from home and overseas. PTV News bulletins will now be available across PTV and PTV Gold, and further news updates and content can be found on ptvnews.co.nz and the PTV News app.
This change will also allow PTV Network New Zealand to focus more on its other channels (see below), providing all New Zealanders with a more diverse range of programming.
NEW LOGOS FOR PTV NEWS & PTV SPORT
In response to the change of font, as mentioned above, the PTV News and PTV Sport logos have been updated. Furthermore, the colour theme for PTV News has changed to red.
Thatâs all for now. What do you think?
Open Sans, while a good font also reminds me of Microsofts Calibri font tooâŚ
Probably need something more unique
Hello, @PaddyTePou, I have a few things that I would like to address [again]:
- Maybe you can have 2 fonts for the company, one more serious and one more fun?
- PTV 13 needs a new name. It sticks out too much, as it has a number instead of a word. The description of the channel makes it sound like it is PTV Extra, maybe that could be itâs name? It also needs a brand color, so black can be preserved for PTV+.
- Gold 2 should be renamed to Gold Extra, to fit in with Shake Extra, Turbo Extra, and Peach Extra.
- I think Peach & Peach Extra need a new font, and maybe a new name, or even going back to Viva.
- Is there any logo or branding for PTV Kids Club?
Everything else is amazing, so it doesnât need changes or clarification. Thank you.
@TheBorkBork Once again, I appreciate your feedback and here are my responses.
Similar to real-life television networks (e.g. TVNZ), I was limited to selecting just one font. An example of this is Blacksans, a flexible and amiable group of sans-serif fonts crafted to enhance the real-life TVNZ logo by incorporating elements from its circular and geometric shapes.
My vision was to establish PTV 13 as a dual-purpose television channel, catering for both preschoolers during the day (6am-6pm) and a wider audience with general entertainment content at night (6pm until midnight).
The channel, aptly named PTV 13 and using the same brand colours as PTV+, would strategically be positioned at number 13 on the Freeview EPG (Electronic Programme Guide), making it ideal for viewers to easily find and access. It would be quite unusual for the channel to have a different slot on the EPG, although in reality, Three +1 (a one-hour timeshift of Three) is currently available on Freeview channel 13. Back in 2007 & 2008, TVNZ had two channels, TVNZ 6 and TVNZ 7, as they were positioned at numbers 6 & 7 on the Freeview EPG.
Despite no current intentions to alter the name and brand colour, potential changes in the future are not ruled out.
I developed PTV Gold 2 as an extension of PTV Gold, a versatile television channel aimed to meet the entertainment needs of the baby boomer market (50 plus). Its programming includes a mix of compelling British dramas, classic movies, thought-provoking documentaries and distinguished factual and arts content. At the moment, I have no intention of changing the channel name to PTV Gold Extra to coincide with other supplementary channels or brand extensions that bear the name âExtraâ, like PTV Shake Extra. However, there is a potential for this to happen in the future.
Despite staying consistent, the name of the PTV Peach brand will not undergo any alterations or return to its previous name, Viva, as it is under the ownership and operation of NZME. In fact, Viva is, in real life, one of New Zealandâs cherished lifestyle, fashion, food, beauty and design publications.
The PTV Kids Club brand has future plans in store while kids content is available on PTV Shake, PTV 13 and PTV+.
@greenpea @nztv @TV4 What if, instead of Sky (in real life), PTV Network New Zealand (as a fictional broadcaster) provided live coverage of all 2024 Super Rugby Pacific games through linear television (PTV and PTV Nitro) and PTV+ as a free, ad-supported streaming service?
This means that viewers can watch the games âlive and freeâ on PTV+, similar to TVNZ+ (in real life), with the addition of highlights and/or delayed coverage of certain games (played in New Zealand only) via linear television.
To showcase this hereâs a mock advertisement for round four of the 2024 season, using actual kick-off times (NZDT).
