I’m guessing by these comments that the ICC has given Star Sports the broadcasting host/feed that Prime takes. Why can’t it be the broadcaster who has the rights does the coverage?
Happy to be explained elsewise though
Amazon only got the rights in Australia. Sky got the rights in the UK and the other Sky got the rights in New Zealand for example.
I don’t think they did. I think the only reason we see so many Star tv commentators is due to the BCCI having so much influence over the ICC these days.
Yeah I think Sunset+Vine do it now? Ever since the change to these rounded-style graphics at the 2019 MWC. They use a lot of the Star production team when outside of India/NZ though.

The rule which stopped Australia’s quest for the World Test Championship being shown on free-to-air television won’t be reviewed for years despite growing anger from fans.
Channel 7 lobbied hard with the Federal Government for the WTC Final against South Africa to be added to the anti-siphoning list but their pleas fell on deaf ears with streaming service Prime Video retaining the exclusive rights as the only place fans can watch Pat Cummins’ team play.
The contentious technicality which has frustrated Channel 7 is that had Australia been playing England – or possibly even India – in the Final rather than South Africa, the Government would have been compelled to make the Test available for free-to-air broadcasters to bid for the rights as well.
“The reformed anti-siphoning scheme and modernised list, commenced on 17 December 2024,” a Government spokesperson said. “The Broadcasting Services Act provides for the review of the reformed anti-siphoning scheme after two years. This will enable an assessment of the reformed scheme at an appropriate point, recognising that technologies and consumer preferences are rapidly evolving.”
Again. Talking about India. If you’re going to write an article about this then check the damn list.
Phil Slothfield whinging in the terrorgraph about no access to cricket and this week’s socceroos qualifier because they were on streaming services. He never complains when they’re on kayo or fox but because they weren’t on his preferred services he complains that governments need to fix anti siphoning
The FTA industry pushed for changes, they got changes. This tedious refrain really needs to stop
Rightfully so.
That’s beside the point. He wouldn’t be whinging if it was on Kayo or Fox. He’s only whinging because it’s on a service that he favors where he constantly praises those services. He’s hypocritical.

I don’t want to sound like a nark but it’s funny how the womens game keeps getting the exposure yet Mens international white ball cricket is still behind a paywall
Wonder if Prime’d be willing to on-sell a couple games to Seven given they’re free to sample Prime coverage for other cricket events?
FTA not happy.
