SCHEDULE UPDATE
Plus Midday News will be shortened to half-an-hour on weekdays, in line with its weekend broadcast. The 12:30pm slot will now be home to Jeopardy! (the game show).

Trouble (the block) has been removed from the schedule, as it moves over to a 7 days a week slot on Plus Extra (5pm to 11pm). Saturday afternoons will now feature classic programming, as the case with Sunday, which will be branded as Golden Afternoons. Despite the move, Trouble Top 10 will remain at its usual time on Saturday afternoons at 5pm.

Lego Master UK (Sunday afternoons at 5pm) has been removed, allowing for an extension of the classics block. Whose Line is It Anyway (Sunday nights at 10pm) will also be removed, to make way for the Plus Sunday Movie, airing after the Wonderful World of Disney.

Thank you for understanding.

Good morning everyone. Welcome to…

THE 2021 PLUS WINTER SEASON SHOWCASE!

Throughout today, there will be multiple announcements regarding the upcoming winter season, as well as a few behind the scene changes.

Stay tuned for more!

PLUS BRANDING
Our first announcement today is that we at Plus have decided to revamp our slogan. While we do love “Welcome Home”, we want something more exciting to get our viewers pumped up for primetime.

Which is why our new slogan is Turn It On!. Formerly used by New Zealand channel Prime during its Nine Network ownership (2003-2005, If I’m not mistaken), we believe that this new slogan brings out a more celebratory tone to our lineup. We’re proud to have these shows and we’re proud to show them to you, and our new slogan shows that.

Plus Extra, while being a block-style channel, will receive a general slogan, A Little Extra. Get it?

Juice FM will also receive its first slogan too, Turn It Up!, as a nod to its parent company.

More news coming soon!

THE NIGHTS SYSTEM
Ever since Plus launched, we have used a system of scheduling known as the “Nights” system, where we theme the lineup to a specific genre (e.g comedy, reality, movie, etc). Until now, here’s how the nights have been laid out:

Monday - Reality shows (Name that Tune, Top Chef, Supermarket Sweep)
Tuesday - Comedy night (The Office, Superstore, How I Met Your Mother)
Wednesday - Sci-Fi night (Buffy, Star Trek, Black Mirror)
Thursday - Drama/Documentaries (Downton Abbey, The Crown, How It’s Made, The Right Stuff)
Friday - Movie night (Family movie followed by blockbuster, limited commercials)
Saturday - Animation Domination (animated shows e.g Family Guy, Futurama, The Great North, Bless the Harts)
Sunday - The Wonderful World of Disney (Disney movies/sneak peeks/specials).

Well it’s time to say goodbye to that specific order cause we’re changing it!

To better compete with our companions over at PTV, Central, and BCNZ, we will be making a few changes to better suit our viewer’s tastes.

Without further ado, here are the NEW nights:

Monday - Animation Domination (animated shows e.g Family Guy, Futurama, The Great North, Bless the Harts)
Saturday - Roulette night (Pretty much a mixed night where we can just air anything we want)
Sunday - Reality shows (Name that Tune, Top Chef, Supermarket Sweep)

Now you may be asking, why the changes?

First of all, we moved AniDom to Monday nights so that we’re able to get the latest episodes of your favorite adult-animation shows straight off the satellite, just hours after airing.

Secondly, we have noticed that Sunday nights seem to be an extremely popular spot for prime-time reality shows, so we moved those there. This did mean sadly we had to say goodbye to The Wonderful World of Disney but we’re pleased to say that those movies will be intergrated back into the Friday night movie schedule.

Finally, with the move of AniDom, Saturday night is now left completely blank. What do we do with it? Air anything we want, of course! Movies, dramas, comedies, specials, classics, sci-fi, anything goes on Saturday nights!

Stay tuned for more new soon the updated primetime schedule.

How about the ‘viewer request’ version of “Plus Showcase” which runs every Saturday from 7-9pm (just before the Saturday night movie)? This is where viewers’ favourite shows are being repeated by request. All requests can be sent to you by post, email or your Facebook page - what do you think?

That’s…a much better idea! Let’s do it!

PLUS NEWS @ 6 FORMAT
@LiamP Here’s how the format of the main news bulletin at 6pm (called “Plus News @ 6”) works. It begins with national and international news and sports stories in the first 35 minutes. A recap of the major news headlines is at around 6.35pm and followed by business news and the sharemarket. Entertainment news starts at around 6.40pm and is covered for 15 minutes. Weather and closing headlines finish off the bulletin.

On weekends the national and international news stories run for 20 minutes. These are followed by regular features for 20 minutes, like “Sport in Action” (comprehensive coverage of the day’s sporting events from around New Zealand, as well as sports news) on Saturdays and “Sunday’s World” (a magazine-style current affairs segment with people and places around New Zealand). Entertainment news, like the weekday edition, starts at around 6.40pm and is covered for 15 minutes. Weather and closing headlines finish off the bulletin.

Plus Extra Revamp
After hours of careful consideration, I have decided that The Hub will no longer be seen on Plus Extra. This is due to multiple factors, the most prominent of them being that thanks to recent schedule changes, there is now a plentiful amount of children’s programming on the main Plus channel to entertain the young ones. Rather than waste money on reruns on a secondary channel, I have decided to just end it.

However, we are keeping the HubBub block of preschool shows, which will still be seen on Plus Extra from 9am to 3pm weekdays during the school term, acting as a bridge between the morning Wakey Wakey! block and Seasame Street at 3pm on the main channel.

Trouble will now be seen from 6am to 11pm, incorporating the HubBub block. Cube will gain a hour in the morning, airing from 11pm to 6am.

Sorry for any confusion resulted from these changes.

Not sure if it is my lockdown brain going crazy but I feel like @LiamP is the alter ego of @PaddyTePou.
