How will history rate Joe Biden? We’ll ask Gov. Howard Dean tonight.

One thing of note is that the Friday editions are being branded as Planet America Weekend, rather than the Fireside Chat. The fireside set-up is gone, with both editions coming from the main Faux-val Office set.

Not to pre-empt the Media Watch segment on this, but Chas did explain what was happening in the latest episode of PEP. The podcast has always had a weird relationship with the ABC: there was one point where the pod was recorded in the ABC lobby and I’m fairly sure a long period where the pod was essentially recorded in secret in the ABC. More recently the podcast has been recorded in the RN space before just recently moving to The Chaser HQ. It hasn’t ever been an official ABC podcast, but it has regularly been promoted at the end of Planet America’s Friday episodes for a while now.

What has pricked the ears of Media Watch though was the introduction of the merch store late last year. If the podcast is a product of the ABC, then this goes against their policy (even though it only made $156.95 last week). Essentially, the ABC is making a final decision this week over whether the podcast is officially part of the ABC or not.

At the end of tonight’s show Chas did the usual promo for Friday’s show + iView and Facebook replays.

John then said as the camera pulled back "Nothing else to plug Chas?
Chas: No
John: Entirely sure?
Chas: I don’t think so

On Weekend Edition tonight:

Donald Trump has spoken with Vladimir Putin on the phone about negotiating an end to the war in Ukraine. Chas and John discuss the latest on the week in America including 25% tariffs on steel and aluminium imports.

Still odd that Friday night’s episodes are now coded as “Weekend Edition” rather than the “Fireside Edition”. I don’t like change! lol. But will get used to it sooner rather than later.

Wednesday 19 February

The US and Russia meet in Saudi to talk about Ukraine, after Munich talks left NATO rattled. The US Justice Dept in turmoil as NY Mayor’s charges dropped, plus funding halted for the Presidents Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief.

Unfortunately the show’s numbers have been impacted by a poor Wednesday line-up at the moment on ABC. The return of The Weekly on 12 March should improve things.

Wednesday 26 February

Chas and John look at US/Russia relations and the war in Ukraine, the growing Republican backlash to Musk’s DOGE, plus the latest polling on Trump which shows bad news and a warning for Donald - but will he listen?

Friday 7 March (subject to ABC News Channel’s Cyclone Alfred coverage)

As Donald Trump nears 50 days in office, Chas and John recap the week including the President’s speech to a joint sitting of Congress, tariffs, Ukraine, Gaza plus the measles outbreak in Texas and New Mexico.

Now preempted.

Planeteers! Due to continuous coverage of #cyclonealfred tonight’s Planet America will be on ABC iView, Yotube and Facebook, but not at the usual time of 8pm on @abcnews. Apologies and see you online.

Why not screen it on one of the other multichannels?

Doesn’t really fit on the other channels, and will probably rate worse than whatever is normally shown given the late notice on the change.

Plus I’m sure many of the viewers will be able to catch up online or on iView, or the numerous repeats on the weekend used as NC filler*

*Cyclone coverage pending

On ABC Entertains right now (10.41 - 11.29pm) is Planet America Weekend Edition. It appears that this the one that aired on iView and Youtube earlier tonight?

That’s what I was saying they should do and should have advertised the fact.

I agree. I found it by pure luck, as I was flicking through the channels and found it. Zero promotion on this (that i know of).

Following the episode of 19 March, Planet America returns Wednesday 9 April after a two week break.
