10 Late News did a look live cross to CBS’ Natalie Brand tonight, arguably given how big this story is they probably could’ve gone live from the main set tonight given the news was on at the earlier time of 10:10pm.
Each of the morning shows were in special edition mode for the coverage considering a number of developments broke once the sun came up and investigators had a better view of the crash. They carried the press conference live as a special report and then returned to respective programming coverage of the incident.
Imagine they will continue to have special reports throughout the morning and day as developments are made public. We’ll likely hear news soon on whether Lester Holt, David Muir and CBS’ new duo will head to DC for special editions of their evening broadcasts.
Their news divisions are covering the story, as you’d expect.
Without evidence, Trump blamed air traffic controllers, the helicopter pilots and Democratic policies at federal agencies.
He also lashed out at the Federal Aviation Administration, saying the agency’s diversity efforts had made air travel less safe.
Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer of New York said Trump spewing conspiracy theories about the crash “turns your stomach”.
There’s been another plane crash. Rolling coverage on CNN Fox and NBC News Now
Maybe this thread can be re-titled ‘2025 United States aviation incidents’ or something.
Philly now getting a lot of coverage online, also the top trend in Australia, expect lots of coverage on bulletins tonight.
This happened after the breakfast shows finished this morning and being a Saturday with less bulletins on TV and resources not ideal. ABC News channel and Sky News will probably have some sort of rolling coverage.
A lot more amateur footage has been captured with this crash, the pictures are quite extraordinary. Reportedly two doctors, a patient and a family member of the patient were on board.
So when do we make a flight accidents thread. Why has there been more I feel this year.
Was surprised to see 10 got something up on Youtube, they usually don’t have any social media producers working over the weekend AFAIK.
A lot of news agencies will see the clicks stories like these get and then turn every minor incident thereafter into their own blitz to try and capture that same attention. It happened with the train derailment in Ohio a few years ago and also with all the stuff surrounding Boeing last year. Media thrives off of tragedies like this, it’s the way the business has always been.
Blake Johnson on the scene in Philly
Aviation accidents of this magnitude are extraordinarily rare in the US. The coverage has been warranted given that fact and given that two have occurred within days of one another. That doesn’t even account for the fact that a new administration has sacked federal aviation leadership in the immediate week preceding these incidents. These factors are all significant for a country that hadn’t seen an aviation disaster in nearly 20 years.
Unbelievable timing, Seven’s Aviation Editor can’t believe it!
