Pay TV History

@TheHomeOfMusic From what I recall, Foxtel didn’t refuse to carry the service; rather, ABC chose not to deal with Foxtel due to pre-existing carriage agreements with Austar and Optus. Additionally, @Billie-joe_Crossley, ABC Kids/Fly TV didn’t ‘die’ because of ABC2. They fell victim to ABC’s cost-cutting measures in 2003, well before ABC2’s launch in 2005.

Foxtel were (maybe still are) charging FTA for access to their platform, on top of any arrangements to get the signal to subscribers

The core memory for me, @TheHomeOfMusic, is, [V], Max, MTV and VH1 aired its own request shows before the disappearance of them.

I still have my selectv STB. Not sure what happened to the card, they may have asked for it back when I canceled.

Has Anyone heard of eKidz?

I have heard of it from Energee’s PRs on Kidscreen as well as the Website that they put out at the end of their shows and it was on Optus’ Channel Oh!

TMF was exclusive to Optus TV featuring Foxtel until 2010 when it rebranded to MTV Hits and made its way to Foxtel but not Austar

Why that?

TMF appeared on Optus and Here’s some Evidence

Some good C7 Sports AFL programming.
