Yes. Watched it on Fox 8 when it came out. When I still had Foxtel. ![]()
Khan Chittenden was going to be the next big star. He hasn’t done much in recent years that I know of.

was it any good?
It was alright. Not brilliant but watchable. From what I remember, it had a great cast of actors but the story seemed to be stretched out to more episodes than necessary.
Since MTV, Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. are saying goodbye to Foxtel on August 1, can you come up with a history of MTV?
why don’t you?
Well it all started in April 1987:
According to Wikipedia, MTV on Nine ended in 1993, then it launched as a 24hr channel on Optus Pay TV in 1996 as ARC Music Television and relaunched as MTV in 1997 before being added to the Foxtel and Austar platforms in 2002 and 2004 respectively. 2004 was also the launch of local programming.
Does anyone remember a show on Nickelodeon I think it was around 2006. It was basically a kid’s game show made in Australia? Does anyone remember what it’s called lol? My cousin was on it. hahaha
Not sure if it was one of these, but I remember Sarvo in the very early 2000s, and there was also Camp Orange in the mid-2000 to mid-2010s.
Good memories. ![]()
Camp Orange sounds familiar I think it may have been that. I will have to check though. I’ve I have the year completely wrong it may even be Sarvo lol.
I just checked and It was definitely Sarvo. I’m guessing the year my cousin was on it was the last season. I still remember it. I had to go to a Nabors house who had Foxtel to watch it because I didn’t have Pay tv at the time. lol, Those were the days.
Does anyone remember the interactive music TV service where you have, like, 4 music video channels in one service after you press the red button?
Yes. There this was before my time but there was a service on Foxtel called Air at one point that was basically audio channels via the red button then it changed names before being closed.
Yes.
air still exsists as Foxtel Music only now the audio streams are alongside the music and special interest channels in the 8xx and 9xx ranges much like FTA digital TV
I’m not entirely sure that’s what @Billie-joe_Crossley meant, but I don’t remember a music video red button service - but then, I wouldn’t doubt any attempt by musicMAX or especially Channel V to try a red button service like that. (Red button didn’t exactly end up being “the future”, did it.
)
As said, certainly Foxtel Music is still going; these days being provided by the Canadian group Stingray, who took over Satellite Music Australia (SMA) from Macquarie Media in 2017 (which pretty much had been providing the streams for “air” from the start - it’d been held by Southern Cross for a while before their Macquarie merger).
I can’t imagine it was ever a huge deal for SMA; they would’ve made more money out of in-store radio feeds, and even when Foxtel charged for “air” separately I recall it only being about $2 a month or something.
The “air” channels always used to start from around ch.830 like they are now. (I’m sure you could still access the individual channels rather than the “app” on 830 when it existed, but only get a blank screen… there is at least a basic “now” screen that Stingray provide now.) The extra radio channels in the 900+ range are a Greek and Italian language radio station placed next to the Ant1 and Rai TV services, as part of their packages.
V, Max and MTV would regularly run a ‘press red’ event. It would usually take you to a split screen where you could select one of four special channels.
Pretty sure I have a video of it somewhere. Will check later today.
This is probably years before I ever saw Foxtel. Now that mention it I have seen something like this befor but only in video as it was a long time before I ever had Pay tv.
I recall MTV ran an interactive service during afternoons for a while which included TMF, a music channel that was exclusive to Foxtel from Optus at that point.
notice the side-boob and a little bit of slight nudity during the “sexy party” bit?
