Yep, it has been mentioned a lot in the watermarks thread this week.
Maybe Paramount could show some Rugby from Stan
no. that’s not how this works.
It was tongue in cheek! Look at the emoji
I’m not sure if David is being cheeky or mischievous but he’s insinuated that Paramount Plus could launch early due to lockdowns around the country on this weeks TV Tonight newsletter.
Early and FREE too is what David suggested! They gotta make money.
He may be on to something.
I’ve just tried to search 10 All Access in the Apple Store and it didn’t come up.
I read it as more of a suggestion that it could be a good way for them to get extra publicity etc, but you could be onto something that he might have some inside info about them going early before next Wed.
I also saw the CBS app in the Australian store which was interesting not sure if it’s still there. I have a us , uk and Aussie apple account .
Big Bang Theory on Binge, Prime Video , Netflix and soon on Paramount +
Currently for Star Trek, Netflix has all of the classic series, the JJ films and Discovery; Stan has all of the classic films; and Amazon Prime has Picard and Lower Decks.
The classic movies only arrived on Stan in August last year. It’s possible it was only a short-term deal to fill the gap until Paramount+ launched similar to Disney on Stan for a year before Disney+, so it’s possible the classic movies might move over. The current series will likely stay put, and my guess is the classic series and JJ films on Netflix are tied into the deal made for Discovery.
I’m predicting the new series Prodigy (late 2021) will be released on Paramount+, going off of Europe’s plan to hold releasing the series until Paramount+ launches early next year and the fact that no third-party international distributor has yet been announced for any territory.
Totally off topic but a quick question…how successful are you at switching between your 3 different regions Apple accounts……doesn’t it stuff up content/music/ apps etc?
According to The Australian, Foxtel is close to completing a new content deal with ViacomCBS which (among other things) will see Paramount+ being available on Foxtel’s STBs.
It says every episode of South Park ever… Amazon has Seasons 1-23 and that costs me on average about $4.92 a month . I guess P+ will have the two pandemic specials.
Also Big Bang every episode in that article. Also on other services.
Edited to add: 50 titles Showtime now on Stan, was 40 yesterday some stuff got readded it seems.
Re edited: Seems i miscalculated , still 40 .
Lots of cross promotion on studio 10 for this today in anticipation for the launch tomorrow
A few takeaways from this MediaWeek article:
“The shows that are on other platforms will continue on their current deal, there is not too many of them left, but those that are still running will continue on those platforms but everything new will come straight to P+ in that market.”
“We are going to have a huge offering on August 11, but we are also going to drop content every week and all year.”
“You will find a huge bulk of the content from 10 will end up on Paramount+, it might not happen the other way around but sometimes it will.”
“I won’t put a number on this year, but we will ramp it up for next year where we are actively in the market. And we have got several shows in development for 2022 as well as the ones we have already commissioned. We should have quite a breadth of content all the way through the year.”
The fact that so many shows that are NOT still running remain on Stan at the moment is suggesting to me that Viacom has no intention of “taking them back”
Guess we will find out.
It doesn’t mean that some shows can’t be sub-licensed to other streamers, especially older series or anything that wouldn’t be a big draw card to the service as well as other networks picking up second window rights to certain series for FTA or BVOD like Why Women Kill on SBS on Demand etc.
