I enjoyed the series, but couldnt help but feel that it was a series that was in the works that they’ve just shoehorned the Betoota guys into.
Paramount+ Announces New Documentary “Mixtape”
Paramount+ announce that MIXTAPE, a new documentary exploring how the creation of mixtapes launched hip hop into mainstream culture, will premiere exclusively on the service Tuesday, August 1 in the U.S. and Canada and Wednesday, August 2 in the U.K., Australia, Latin America and Brazil, with further international markets to follow later in the year.
MIXTAPE is the story of hip hop refusing to take no for an answer. Before radio play, the internet, and social media, there were mixtapes. DJs were tastemakers, trendsetters and creators of the sound that became the biggest musical genre on the planet. The importance of mixtapes goes well beyond the tapes themselves. Mixtapes were a form of currency and a signifier that someone was “in the know” and had their ear to the streets. The culture was too strong to be stopped, and the artists were too talented to be ignored - so they turned the sub-culture into the mainstream, and made hip hop what it is today.
“Hip-Hop is 50 years old and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate its journey and contextualize its evolution than through the story of the mixtape. Every voice in this film played a critical role, especially the DJs who, as KRS-ONE says beautifully in the film, risked everything to ‘bring us the music’,” said Omar Acosta, director of MIXTAPE. Producer Tony Touch added “it’s an honor to be involved in this film and to help tell the real story of the mixtape, its origins, its impact, and its on-going relevance for the culture.”

Still using the incorrect ALW logo (sponsor-less, it’s sponsored by Liberty but wasn’t for about 2 months after the rebrand and thus a lot of 10’s stuff has the generic logo) and Socceroos logo (now Subway Socceroos).
Just finished the first ep of Lioness and it’s pretty good so far, a little strange to hear the MTV Studios sting at the beginning though - seems almost out of place.
The P+ interface really needs some updates still, no skip opener feature, you also have to watch the entire credits (or fast forward) before it comes up with the option to auto play the next episode.

Paramount+ has revealed the official trailer for season four of its hit original animated comedy series Star Trek: Lower Decks during the Star Trek Universe presentation at San Diego Comic-Con.
It was also announced at the panel that the highly anticipated fourth season will premiere with two episodes on Thursday, 7 September exclusively on Paramount+. New season-four teaser art was revealed as well, the design an homage to Star Trek: IV: The Voyage Home.
Created by Emmy Award winner Mike McMahan (Rick and Morty, Solar Opposites), in season four of Star Trek: Lower Decks, an unknown force is destroying starships and threatening galactic peace. Luckily, the crew of the U.S.S. Cerritos isn’t important enough for stuff like that! Instead, Ensigns Mariner, Boimler, Tendi, Rutherford and Provisional Ensign T’Lyn are keeping up with their Starfleet duties, avoiding malevolent computers and getting stuck in a couple caves – all while encountering new and classic aliens along the way.
The Starfleet crew residing in the lower decks of the U.S.S. Cerritos includes Ensign Beckett Mariner, voiced by Tawny Newsome; Ensign Brad Boimler, voiced by Jack Quaid; Ensign Tendi, voiced by Noël Wells; and Ensign Rutherford, voiced by Eugene Cordero. The Starfleet characters that comprise the U.S.S. Cerritos’ bridge crew include Captain Carol Freeman, voiced by Dawnn Lewis; Commander Jack Ransom, voiced by Jerry O’Connell; Lieutenant Shaxs, voiced by Fred Tatasciore; and Doctor T’Ana, voiced by Gillian Vigman.
Season four of Star Trek: Lower Decks is produced by CBS’ Eye Animation Productions, CBS Studios’ animation arm; Secret Hideout; and Roddenberry Entertainment. Secret Hideout’s Alex Kurtzman, Roddenberry Entertainment’s Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth and Katie Krentz (219 Productions) serve as executive producers alongside creator and showrunner Mike McMahan. Aaron Baiers (Secret Hideout), who brought McMahan to the project, also serves as an executive producer. Titmouse (Big Mouth), the Emmy Award-winning independent animation production company, serves as the animation studio for the series.
I caught up on The Appleton Ladies’ Potato Race this morning on P+ and quite enjoyed it for an Aussie movie, felt more like a series almost.
A real shame it wasn’t promoted better for its FTA screening, pretty reflective of the overnight ratings.
A number of comments on socials about the large TGYH watermark throughout the movie too, when will networks learn honestly.

Paramount+ today released the official trailer and key art for the all-new Young Adult film Love In Taipei, based on the New York Times’ best-selling novel Loveboat, Taipei by Abigail Hing Wen. In the novel, a young American woman is sent by her parents to a cultural immersion program in Taipei – inspired by an actual program attended by thousands of Chinese and Taiwanese diaspora youth – where she begins a new journey of self-discovery and romance. Love In Taipei will stream exclusively on Paramount+ from Friday, 11 August.
Love In Taipei stars Ashley Liao (Physical, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes) as Ever Wong, whose summer takes an unexpected turn when her parents surprise her with a trip to Taipei for a cultural immersion program. Ever is surprised to discover that she hasn’t signed up for homework and history lessons, but instead for a summer-long free-for-all the locals and other students call Loveboat. It quickly lives up to its name when Ever finds herself trying not to fall for two attractive but wildly different boys who are vying for her attention, while at the same time finding the courage to defy her parents’ high expectations and pursue her true passion: dancing.
In addition to Ashley Liao, Love In Taipei also stars Ross Butler (Shazam! Fury of the Gods, To All The Boys franchise) as Rick Woo, a prominent sports and scholastic prodigy; Nico Hiraga (Booksmart, Moxie) as Xavier Yeh, a free-spirited artist and heir to an international tech empire, Chelsea Zhang (Daybreak, Titans) as Ever’s friend Sophie, whom she meets at Loveboat, and Cindy Cheung (The Sinner, 13 Reasons Why) as Ever’s Aunt Shu.
Love In Taipei is directed by Arvin Chen (Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?) and produced by Matt Kaplan for Ace Entertainment. The film, shot on location in Taipei, is based on the bestselling book Loveboat, Taipei by Abigail Hing Wen, who also serves as executive producer, and screenplay by Charlie Oh and Mackenzie Dohr. Christopher Foss, Matthew Janzen, Max Siemers, Aubrey Bendix, Cheng-Chung Chang, and Ross Butler also serve as executive producers.
HarperCollins published the book series, which continues the journey with Loveboat Reunion and the upcoming Loveboat Forever.
A Gentleman in Moscow has been put on hiatus due to the US actors strike. According to this Deadline article, the series has been filming in Manchester’s Space Studios for much of the first half of this year, but shut down production last week, with only seven days of filming to go. Lead actor Ewan McGregor is a SAG-AFTRA member.

Apparently Australian actors aren’t good enough to lead an Australian drama on an international platform.
Crazy I know.
This will always happen when you’re a commercial enterprise in multiple territories where one is stronger than the other.
