Intro and partial segment of Seattle station KIRO’s news from October 1984. The channel showcased a rarity: a jet was used for newsgathering purposes!

At the time, KIRO’s cross-town rival KING used a Cessna, which they shared with KING Radio, for their traffic reports. It was featured in the station’s morning news open, along with their helicopter:

Here are bit an pieces of KOAT from 1997, including (shortly after the 4-minute mark) an unusually long list of translators, even by the standards of the American West:

Following up with this RTP’s 2002/04 news post, here’s a morning update from 3 February 2003 where journalist Ana Cardoso Fonseca previews the stories of that day’s lunchtime news.

At the 1:06 minute mark, you can hear a short snippet of the soft electronic pips theme. Musician Elvis Veiguinha was the creator of the multiple cuts used by RTP’s news department in those years.

To wrap up, a closer of Telejornal on 19 March 2002 (Father’s Day in Portugal), where the newscast ends with an amazing shot of Jose Rodrigues dos Santos being projected on a screen, located on the rooftop of the old RTP building in Lisbon.

Many newspapers used to print TV listings as an easier (or cheaper) alternative to dedicated magazines like TV Guide, TV Week, etc. This is a Buenos Aires schedule from Thursday 27 October 1983 (a few days before the first general election in 7 years), published by the local paper Clarin.

The “bullet” design resembles the American TV Guide, with some differences. Cable programming (white bullet) is mentioned at the bottom of the listings.

In June 2006, as part of its 13th anniversary celebrations, Argentine cable news channel Todo Noticias (TN) was given a new look: newsy, fresh and serious, clearly representing the style of those times. The agency Gizmo created the visual identity, and local composer Eddie Sierra was in charge of the triumphant music.

TN changed dramatically over the years. It has become a flashy channel which heavily relies on crime, gossip, sports, politics and banter. Trying to attract a younger audience (who barely watch TV news these days!), TN has added bloopers and music shows to its schedule in recent years, phasing out culture and arts programming.
