The final show of Breakfast for the year is coming from a different studio this morning, assume maybe where HYBPA / Q&A is filmed?
They have a live studio audience and are presenting from a soft set this morning.

Why do NZ tv channels stop almost all news programming over the holidays ,surely they must know that news doesn’t stop and people want late news and morning news all year round, for nearly a month NZ has know morning tv news source The only thing you can do is VPN Australian programs.
They can easily use some junior presenters for a summer edition.

Probably run the numbers and realised that no, people don’t want that. I don’t like it either but if the (financial) argument was able to be stacked up, they’d be doing it.
Economies of scale make it easier for Australia to do.
Because it’s just presenters that TV shows require to go on air.

I’m actually with you on this one. Years ago circa early 2000’s Breakfast, Midday, One Late Edition continued right through the summer holidays. Kate Hawkesby presented Breakfast during the 2001 summer IRC. I’ll try and pull out some old TV Guides to prove this. After 2003 TVNZ no longer ran its morning show through summer. I’m hoping someone out there has an old VHS recording of this and uploads to YouTube. If its cost prohibitive maybe just an hour morning news bulletin from 7am till 8 and continue Midday/Tonight right through.

I saw this and thought they are giving up on the 1NewsNow brand. I was hoping they would use this brand to launch a 24 hour Streaming News channel in the same vein as America’s CBSN, ABC News Live attached to the TVNZ Ondemand platform and available via Freeview streaming. Surely that would be more cost effective than paying a fee for a Freeview channel per year.
What is/was 1 News Now?
It was 1 News branding for its Online Platform. Website and App.

I noticed recently that the TVNZ On Demand website just has the 1 News logo now rather than the 1 News Now on the main tab, must’ve changed in the last few weeks.
I kinda really like the One News look, and prefer it when it was styled as One.

Looked good but I don’t think the brand ever really caught on hence why it has quietly dropped the ‘now’ part. To most people 1 News will always be just 1 News.
Even the 1news.co.nz url just directs you to tvnz.co.nz/one-news

Has anyone seen the new 1 News 2020 promo? Just saw it tonight and I like the way they have included all their daily news shows which included Te Karere! Im not sure about the music tho. Missing was Q+A and Sunday, would of thought these would of been included because of election year.
Is that the ‘Back in 2020’ one? I saw it earlier today and also thought it was quite good, I liked how simple it was with the block coloured backdrop and the flat white logos for 1 News, Te Karere, Seven Sharp etc.
