On This Day

The NFSA appears to have the original 16mm release prints as well as the 2" video for most episodes. So yes it probably came from Fremantle.

A clip from one episode was featured on ATV10’s 30th anniversary special in 1994. That’s all I’ve seen of it.

It was also pointed out at the time that Peter Moon, later of Fast Forward fame, was one of the school students in the classroom. No idea if he spoke any dialogue or was just an extra.

TV Eye has a very detailed article on this and many other series http://www.classicaustraliantv.com/GMDoubleday.htm

10 February may have been the Sydney date for the series debut of Return To Eden?

In Melbourne, it debuted on ATV10 a few days later on Thursday.

really???, How many people in the metro areas WOULD have Foxtel boxes in there homes.

that’s not what they said. They said putting Sky News on FTA would give metro viewers the same options to see Sky News as regional viewers have.

Yes, but I would assume a lot of metro viewers would have Foxtel already for that.
My experience from living in Brisbane and the Gold Coast, had plenty of friends who had a Foxtel box of some kind.
I just really don’t see it being something metro viewers would like, considering the amount of channels already broadcast by the 2 Gov networks and the big 3 networks.
Who, What, How.

10 February 1986: In order to meet strengthened C classification guidelines, the Nine Network introduces topical magazine show C’mon Kids to the schedule on weekday afternoons from 4pm.

C’mon Kids comes from the studios of NWS9 Adelaide and evolved from the station’s long running local children’s show The Channel Niners. The show is hosted by Robin Roenfeldt, Joanna Moore and a little pink duck with an annoyingly high pitched voice called Winky Dink. The Curiosity Show and high quality Australian and international children’s drama, such as Supergran, are incorporated into the one hour format.

I visited both the Hobart and Launceston casinos in 1983 and was underwhelmed. There were very few tables and no poker machines. Las Vegas was one of my destinations in 1985, which is where I then saw real casinos. $1 blackjack bets kept the free scotch coming all night, and my head paid for it the next day!

I remember C’mon Kids. Great show that!

Those of us who’d been watching The Tracey Ullman Show Monday nights in 1988 on the ABC were already familiar with the characters and were eagerly anticipating the series premiere. Rubbery Figures, Ullman and Denton’s Blah Blah Blah made for a good night of comedy in early '88.

I watched Tracey Ullman and loved it, but I must’ve been the only person who wasn’t eagerly anticipating The Simpsons.

The Ullman show humour was very cutting edge for its time and not something expected from a US network comedy show. It was a good fit for the ABC at the time even though it was a product of the US Fox network. I expected a lot more of that humour to appear in The Simpsons series considering a lot of the same people were involved but was disappointed we only got to see glimpses of it. I grew tired of it pretty quickly and stopped watching regularly after the third season.
