I remember when this channel first started, it was my favourite channel and I liked all the shows they played. Also the appearance of the channel was fresh back then.
While I’m sure there were good intentions behind it, Ten’s News Revolution became Ten’s News Demolition by the end of 2011 with just about everything except the 5pm bulletins axed.
Of course Ten would relaunch most of these national bulletins in 2012 and 2013 to compliment Breakfast & Wake Up, but eventually all of these would be cancelled as well.
Personally I hope this never happens but I wonder if in the next decade, we’ll be talking about an outsourced news service (Nine News at Five on 10 or similar) on the network?
In the past I would’ve said “something like this will never happen” but with the way things have been going in the media industry lately, now I’m not so sure…
The intention was admirable but the execution was too much too quickly. The Negus show was too heavy going for 6.00. I get there was a need to counter the trashy style of ACA etc but it went too far in the opposite direction.
I wouldn’t be surprised if at some stage we saw an outsourced version with Sky being the provider.
Sky wouldn’t say no to the cash, and a network wouldn’t say no to the cost savings.
They’ve provided it to Qantas before for example.
Me too! Have good memories of watching Couch Time with the family in the loungeroom.
Just found that I also have The Age Green Guide from the week that Eleven launched
Interestingly it mentions that Neighbours would simulcast on both Ten and Eleven up until the launch of the news ‘revolution’ later in the month, but I can’t see that in any of the listings I have from the weeks around then. Maybe this didn’t end up happening? I can’t recall but the listings don’t show it.
There was a lot of media attention (back then) when the networks first launched these new channels. Now days barely a mention for 9Rush or 10Shake.

1991 Ten rebrands from 10 TV Australia to simply Ten with a brand new logo that was used until late 2018 except for some variants.
I didn’t see it until I saw the TV guide in the papers the next day.
The Age had previously reported before Christmas that a new logo was coming despite Ten being in receivership, but there was no promotion of the launch date or anything so it really just happened without any prior fanfare, unlike the change to the previous logo which had been teased weeks/months in advance.

Now BCV, GLV, and STV would be unified under the same frequency. Until 1989 that is, when STV would be bought by ENT Ltd and join VIC TV.

18 January 1994: Blue Heelers debuts on Seven. It went on to equal Homicide’s record of 510 episodes for a weekly drama.
According to Wikipedia, it started in Brisbane and Adelaide the following week.
The final episode aired on three different dates.
Adelaide - 16 November 1987.
Sydney - 27 December 1987.
Melbourne - 10 January 1988.
… Sons & Daughters was also notable for being set in both Sydney and Melbourne to try to circumvent the parochial problems of Sydney viewers not embracing Melbourne shows and vice versa … it did lead to some logistical problems however … in 1984 I was on an early-morning flight from Sydney heading to Melbourne to attend the FACTS AGM and most of the show’s cast were on the same plane … there was fog in Melbourne and we got diverted to Canberra and left on the tarmac … it was nearly midday when we finally landed which would have screwed the shooting schedule mightily
