I hope the Australian committee likewise follows the USA’s lead for a return to fairness and sanity. But the current Australian Govt and most of the local sporting organisations are without a clue.
Doha has thrown its hat in the ring to host the 2036 Olympic but faces an obstacle as NBC is the US rights holder for the 2036 Olympics in a host city TBD.
What does the NBC have to do with the 2036 Olympic Games City? They’ve held the broadcasting rights for eons.

I didn’t realise that NBC now chooses who get’s to host the Olympics 
They submitted a bid in 2020 but was knocked back as an Olympics in Fall (autumn) would interfere with the NFL regular season, start of the NBA regular season and the MLB Postseason.
Hard to see Doha getting it as long as NBC has the rights. Brisbane will be in our winter months as with the Rio Games despite being branded as the 2032 Summer Olympics
Again I don’t see how the NBC holding the rights will stop anyone from getting the games. The NBC’s held the rights to the games whether it was held in America, France, China, Brazil, UK, Greece, it’ll have no problem with Australia or Qatar.
As long as they’re paying the big bikkies to the IOC, they’ll have some say in it.

NBC are actually quite influential in the IOC - they actually hold a seat on the future hosts commission and help decide who hosts the games. in theory the role is limited to the broadcasting / technical aspects but we all know how the IOC works..
and Brisbane only got the games as a thankyou to Coates for his work in reforming the bid process - Coates has been a big fan of having the games in Brisbane - he actually got his start in the movement when he left his law practce in Melbourne to head the bid for Brisbane 1992

A Doha 2036 Olympic & Paralympic Games could run from October-December with the Olympics from 31 October 2036-16 November 2036 and the Paralympics from 25 November 2036-7 December 2036 which would be 80 years since an Olympics was held this late in Melbourne in 1956
the rules changed a few years ago to give a specific window for the games in July / august. this was ratified a few years agi by the IOC and all the international sports bodies as well as the IBC and IPC. this is not an easy thing to change as qualification events and international windows for the games are all set around a july / august window. due to this window, its why Brisbane was really the only chouce (due to the climate) for an aussie host.
