If you have fox you simply do not watch Nine. I don’t understand why you would.
The ratings would suggest that most people still watch games on free to air, if only because a lot of those don’t have FOX.
New intro but looks like the same graphics.
Something new…
James Bracey just advised OLD and NT viewers to switch from 9Gem to Nine for the game coverage.
The first voice of The night that I hear is Ray Warren. He introduced the start of the 2018 NRL season.
He was doing that kind of intro last year too.
They put it on mute, their commentary compared to Fox League is like comparing perfectly grown apples with those rotten rockmelons that have devastated fruit suppliers in Tasmania.

I wonder if Sky in Nz is taking the Fox calls this year or Nine?
Fox, as they have since Fox got the rights to show all games.
Does Sky take Fox commentary for State of Origin and NRL Grand Final as well (since Nine has the live rights)?
No, they take Nine - warts n all. Or have the last two years anyway.
During the NRL coverage, in Adelaide they a placeholder screen is shown in place of Sports Bet odds:
Surely if they can insert that, some other form of advertising could be shown in Adelaide other than a static image with a message.
That would probably take them over the max 14 mins quota.
They could insert a classic NRL Footy Show ‘Anti-Ad’ clip…
Interestingly Mat Thompson called last nights Sharks v Dragons game on Nine.
Where was Ray?
Given Mat will most likely be calling tonight’s Broncos vs Cowboys game from Brisbane as well, which I’m quite sure Ray wouldn’t be traveling to cover.
Perhaps his contract for this year only requires him to call games held at the two major Sydney stadiums, ANZ Stadium and Allianz Stadium.
But last week he commentated the season opener between the Dragons and Broncos at Kogarah Oval.
It’s in Sydney so he probably zipped over on his hoverboard.
