NRL on Nine

NZ has ongoing border issues and Melbourne is best reserved for premium in-season content like Origin, it doesn’t have the market to support the indigenous game.

I do not think the Indigenious game warrents a sydney or Brisbane really. I think it should be like City vs Country and played in a Regional City.

Who will step up now, with Peter Sterling retiring, and Erin Molan rumoured stepping down (and continue with doing sports for the News on Fridays and Saturdays)?

Will James Bracey continue with Sports Sunday or now step in for the Sunday Footy Show? I can see Danika Mason step up in the hosting role of the Sunday Footy Show down the track. Ruan Sims and alana Ferguson can still do the odd panellists on the show.

Potentially Roz Kelly or Tim Horan move into hosting Sports Sunday, with Bracey moving to host SFS. But I’d say that Danika Mason will become host of the Sunday Footy show and take over Erin’s shifts. Keeps just about everything the same.

It will be interesting to see if the game rates higher than A League on 10. It will be a close contest.

It also means the match will be shown live on TDT main channel in Tasmania rather than 9Gem.

Rugby League’s star studded celebration of cultures

MEN’S AND WOMEN’S DOUBLE-HEADER ON CHANNEL 9 & 9GEM

The NRL Harvey Norman All Stars, footy’s greatest celebration of Indigenous cultures, returns this Saturday in the first official fixture of the 2022 NRL season, LIVE and FREE on Channel 9 and 9Gem.

Kicking off at 5.00pm AEDT on 9Gem with the Women’s All Stars, the annual clash will be hosted in Sydney for the first time at CommBank Stadium. The Maori Ferns will be back with a vengeance, determined to reverse their devastating 24-0 loss to the Indigenous All Stars in 2021.

The Australian Indigenous All Stars (Men) will then take on the New Zealand Maori All Stars, at 7.30pm AEDT on Channel 9, with all eyes on Shaquai Mitchell, brother of Rabbitoh superstar Latrell Mitchell. Mitchell makes his debut in an NRL game for the Indigenous All Stars after St George playmaker Jack Bird was forced out with injury. Both teams are itching for a win after last year’s match ended in the first draw in All Star history.

The huge double-header of male and female stars representing their culture and heritage on the big stage will give fans their first taste of rugby league for the year ahead, with the 2022 NRL season starting on Thursday, March 10, on Nine.

Good to see they don’t have any white fellas hosting the match tonight. Boney, Thurston and Inglis.
