Nine Tennis Coverage

I recall Seven rarely took the world feed for any match. And whenever I thought it was the world feed I was always surprised to hear them then talking about My Kitchen Rules and holding a 7 Sport microphone.

Thing is, up until 2014, Seven Sport produced all the coverage (world feed and their own). You never saw ‘world feed’ pre 2015. But between 2015 and 2018, I’m positive Seven just used world feed commentators (either under their own direction or just taking the feed) when needed - as has been well documented - possibly disguised by Seven’s own graphics (which they always used).

Here’s Seven’s EP from 2012 Nick Barrow talking about some of it:

Maybe Nine should’ve bumped whatever was on 9Gem and put the Alcott match there.

They obviously didn’t plan for this situation. But how hard could it be to broadcast the feed onto 9Gem?

A shame really that the Dylan Alcott match is pushed to the 9Now Streaming site, rather that putting it on Gem. Is a repeat of Silent Witness on Gem in Sydney - at a 10.48pm start - more important?

There would of been more viewers for Silent Witness than the Alcott match.

“Fans slam brutal Dylan Alcott snub”

You are joking?

Telecast finished at 12:50 AM AEDT.

They didn’t really think this through. They should have had it on during the day on the weekend.

^^
And this guy obviously has no idea who Dylan Alcott is.

That’s because Tennis Australia took the production in house since that period. It wasn’t a choice seven had as it was part of their renewal of the rights at the time. And you have to remember back then tennis was shown only on on channel in Australia with no online streams

No, most tennis viewers would of been watching the Rafa match.

Newscorp with more sensational crap. There’s not much you can do when the match goes 5

Noticed that near the end of the second set in the Rafa v Tsis match, at change of ends, someone forgot to roll the commercials. We saw a shot of the stadium for a while, then some slow motion vision with no commentary, then black for about five seconds, then a fresh intro back to the match. That was in Melbourne. Wonder if it was like that everywhere?

Was hoping we might hear some off the cuff comments from the commentary booth. But no.

Saw that! Yeah NPC Media didn’t cut to an ad break, must’ve been miscommunicated between wwos at Melb Park and them? And oddly, seemed like Melb Park had no idea, as you said, Todd welcomed viewers back like there’d been a short ad break.

With Djokovic winning tonight’s semi-final in straight sets over Karatsev, Nine is now replaying Osaka’s defeat of Serena Williams from this afternoon.

Straight after they showed a replay of the Naomi Osaka v Serena Williams SF from earlier this afternoon

Whoops! Nine’s promo team didn’t get the memo (but must’ve been quickly fixed as I recall the promo but not Dimitrov’s pic)

Nine should have shown that interview live not go to 5 minutes of commercial as then play it. Poor form.
