I guess it was in case the main channel was needed for breaking news on NSW South Coast bushfires. And it did happen on several occasions.

Nine showing Hobart International for the first time but why does the final have to be shown on delay? It should be shown live on 9Gem or 9GO! or streamed live on 9Now.
Reminds me of a similar situation a few years ago when Seven showed the Kooyong Classic final on several hours delay, after the Sydney International men’s final.

Having delayed telecasts of tennis finals nationwide is a joke. I just couldn’t believe why a tennis match had to be shown on 2-4 hour delay. If Nine is not available, use 9Gem. It’s 2020, not 2000. Get your act together.

The organisers will have to squeeze in as many matches under the roof as possible.
For those who are wondering, the Brisbane International (now just a women’s tournament) begins today and is shown on 9GO! until Saturday. Sunday’s final will be shown live on main channel.

Plus there are 3 main tour level ATP tournaments which all bar the very top players play starting a day after the AO final where officials and players need to be (used to be the first round of Davis Cup which would have made a delay slightly easier to organise, it’s the qualifying round for Fed Cup on the Women’s side). 2020 is condensed enough with the Olympics thrown in for the top players, some of whom may appear in the 500 events in February a fortnight after the AO.

ATP Cup seems to be rating well on 9Gem, but Brisbane International very bad on 9Go!
With Brisbane, probably not helped being only a womens tournament this year and Ash Barty’s shock round 1 exit. But an article I saw today says there’s much hunger for a WTA Cup from 2021, makes sense!

Just realised 9Go!'s bad shares the past week might also be attributed to over-runs, as seen tonight the scheduled 7pm movie “Black Panther” (a Marvel blockbuster too) still hasn’t started (45min late and counting)!
