Sucked that Nine couldn’t have put the boys final on tonight (Lleyton’s son Cruz Hewitt - who lost in a thriller), instead on Stan I believe.

Nine will show the Davis Cup World Group tie between Australia and Poland, live from Brisbane’s Pat Rafter Arena on September 19 and 20. Day 2 could overlap with Nine’s NRL coverage if the league decides to schedule a semi-final on that day, similar to last year.

The US Open coverage wrapped up on 9Gem/9Go at 4.13pm, instead of the 3pm scheduled finish time.

Todd Woodbridge made his first appearance of the tournament too. Commentating in the last match of the day. Not sure what time he started though.

4.50pm AEST is the latest finish of US Open ever. Today we have blown past that.

What a sight to behold.

I mean, even with both the hard court Majors adding an extra day to their schedules, late-night finishes were always going to be unavoidable.

Nine got their money’s worth today from the US Open broadcast rights, close to 6pm on the east coast of Australia.

I did see push notifications about the match from 9Now.

Hopefully plenty were able to tune-in on Gem, 9Now or Stan or catch-up, as it was an instant classic. Nine should’ve had it on the main channel, at least the first half of the match.

The match is currently the top social trend.

Early evening on the East Coast. The first Sincaraz match at Flushing was a late-nighter as well

With the news of Sylvia Jeffreys’ Today appointment, it means Wide World of Sports will once again be looking for a new female network host.

Following Erin Molan, Rebecca Maddern and Roz Kelly.

Or will they just adpot another male, as there’s more options available. I think this would be better, but not sure the optics would look as good therefore not sure Nine would go, for example, three men anchoring the Aus Open.

AUSTRALIAN OPEN, GRAND SLAM TENNIS

The 2027 Australian Open will headline a smashing summer of tennis on Nine to kickstart the year of exclusive coverage of all four Grand Slams.

Beginning in January, a world class line up will represent their nations in the United Cup, while the Brisbane and Adelaide Internationals provide the perfect entree into Nine’s wall-to-wall, 15 day coverage of the 2027 Australian Open.

The world’s best players converge on Melbourne Park where a stellar commentary lineup featuring Todd Woodbridge, Jim Courier, Jelena Dokic, Alicia Molik, John McEnroe,

Dylan Alcott, John Millman, Casey Dellacqua and Sam Smith will put you on centre court for all the action.

Throughout the year tennis fans can keep their eye on the ball with every match from all four Grand Slams when Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open are available exclusively across the 9Network, 9Now and Stan Sport.

Our best Australian talent will feature in Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup ties, with the Laver Cup streaming live and on demand on Stan Sport. The only place for world class tennis is here on Nine.

Well you’d assume Mason would be the main - although on mat leave of course.
