Nine Tennis Coverage

John Millman’s comments after the Zverev vs Djokovic match responding to the booing were a bit distasteful in my opinion (https://www.youtube.com/shorts/vwWcasXqRFU)

He said “I don’t care how much you’ve spent on your tickets, have some respect”

The tickets are literally hundreds of dollars each seat. Super expensive and makes it worse when it looked like if Djokovic had won the first set he probably would’ve played on.

Wonder if this affects 10NF’s ratings adding to the lack of tennis, and instead gameshow.

The booing was moronic…apparently not understanding that it was injury related.

DAY 14: AUSTRALIAN OPEN BROADCAST SCHEDULE

SABALENKA V KEYS IN WOMEN’S SINGLES FINAL

LIVE AND FREE ON CHANNEL 9 AND 9NOW

It’s down to the champ and the challenger when Aryna Sabalenka and Madison Keys face off in the Australian Open Women’s Singles Final, live and free on the 9Network, tomorrow - Saturday January 25, from 6.30pm AEDT.

Hunting a three-peat of Australian Open singles titles, world no.1 Sabalenka has dismantled all of her opponents on the way to the final, where she meets resurgent American Keys, who is yet to lose a match in the Australian summer of Tennis.

Holding a favourable 4-1 win record over Keys, Sabelanka is chasing history

as she sets her sights on joining Evonne Goolagong Cawley, Steffi Graf, Margaret Court, Monica Seles and Martina Hingis as the only women to win three consecutive Australian Open singles titles.

Channel 9 expert commentator, Jelena Dokic, said: “This shapes as a great match up between the two best women’s players of the Aussie summer.”

“After winning the lead up events in Brisbane and Adelaide, Sabalenka and Keys remain unbeaten and are now chasing their own slice of history.

“Sabalenka is deserving of a seat at the table with the five greats who have claimed an Australian Open three-peat, but needs to contend with Keys who wants to claim her breakthrough Grand Slam slam title.

“Last time they met at a Slam was the 2023 US Open and it was an epic three-set encounter. This looks to be one as well between two of the biggest hitters in Women’s tennis.”

The Afternoon Serve is live from 4.00pm AEDT to preview the final day of the women’s singles draw. Australia’s most successful individual Olympian of all time, Kaylee McKeown , and 200m freestyle gold medallist Mollie O’Callaghan join the show as special guests.

Fans will have the ability to watch every point of every match, at any time live, free and on any device in HD on 9Now.

A memorable Aussie Open final. The great Martina Hingis (as well as Graff and Seles) from the iconic 90s will have to wait more than a quarter of a century now…

ESPN and Nine might be fighting behind the scenes over who gets the traditional post-match studio interview first with Keys following that long walk under and out of Rod Laver Arena, moments away.

Despite ideal timing with New York waking up for breakfast, I’d imagine the local broadcaster would get first say, as usual.

Nine is closer to RLA. So they might go there first

Crowd have been much better tonight IMO, including the mass behind Nine’s main studio right now.

There is a level of prestige when it comes to a grand slam final and glad from what I’ve seen at least there’s been respect and decency (so far).

Great interviews with Madison Keys by James Bracey, Casey Dellacqua and Sam Stosur.

Nine is now airing the Men’s Doubles Final. But they missed the opening two points though. Not much they could have done though.

What a smooth operator. Wonder if he could ever be poached by Foxtel (again) or Seven? But why would he when Nine almost have everything including Olympics, Winter Olympics and Australian Open plus NRL namely SOO and GF. Possibly Comm Games who knows. He’d have to get a significant salary increase, of which I’m sure he’s already on a decent one at NEC.
