Bad start for the Aussies, Tomljanovic was looking so impressive and a good Barty replacement before injury, has since struggled.
Big match tonight, Sascha Zverev v Rafa Nadal, Nine will be hoping the latter progresses (maybe a last hoorah?)

For some odd reason I don’t know, Nine’s French Open coverage wrapped at 9:35pm tonight. I reckon it’s either due to contractual obligations (I remember Todd Woodbridge mentioning this term quite a few times when Seven had the Wimbledon coverage in the 10s) or the fact that persistent rain can only allow play inside Court Philippe Chatrier and Court Suzanne Lenglen, the two major showcourts.

Correct, there were some matches that Seven could not show due to this restriction. One match I can recall in 2012 was a three-set epic between the eventual champion, Serena Williams, and Zheng Jie, a semi-finalist in 2008. From memory, Foxtel had exclusive rights to that match; Seven showed a match featuring former French Open champion, Ana Ivanovic, instead.
From what I think, Nine was due to show Alex de Minaur’s match later tonight (or early tomorrow morning?) but could not show any matches between now and then, possibly due to other matches being exclusive to Stan. Not sure if/when they will resume tonight’s French Open coverage…

There are 3 Aussie matches all around the same time, which were set to be getting underway now: Popyrin v Kokkinakis in an all-Australian affair; de Minaur and Rinky Hijikata.

Have they mentioned any reason yet why they are finishing coverage at 11pm now instead of the advertised 4.30am?
We know it’ll be to drive Stan subscribers but why change at the last minute. Just wondering what they say when sign off

As has been posted above I think its because of rain washing out too many courts for it to be worthwhile making Stan non-exclusive.

Would that have to do with moving into the next round of competition when matches drop off?
Wonder if they’ll cross-promote during tonight’s NRL, Demon is playing tonight. Interesting they’re not going from RL into tennis on main channel in Sydney and Brisbane.
But yeah, unfortunately, bad weather impacting the clay at in Paris. Let’s hope the Olympics sees brighter skies.
