Isn’t all sports sent to TCN and then graphics added in a control room (like the score) and then piped to NPC? At least it was like that in years gone past.
With most magazine shows I imagine production would’ve wrapped on Friday and is ready to air. Would be an added cost and more risky to have people working on a Saturday.
Certainly in newspapers, the glossy weekend mags are generally printed on Thursday and Friday nights for the Saturday/Sunday papers. Some inserts in the Friday papers have Tuesday deadlines. I can imagine it’s much the same with current affairs programming, save probably for ACA, 7.30 and occasionally Four Corners.
its rare to see tipping Pont on weekend its one of 9 nsw replacement program
Nine can output shows directly to NPC I believe.
Could be related to the report about Russia airing tomorrow night on Under Investigation ![]()
Is this technical glitch affecting just live shows or the whole of Sydney TCN?
Peter Ford claiming all cities affected except Melbourne and tonights 6pm will be national out of Melbourne.
Seven News executives will be rubbing their hands with glee.
9 prg flashed orange i think there back online
The Australian Financial Review is reporting the effects of the suspected cyber attack may last beyond Sunday with no time frame given for a fix. The disruption extends to Nine’s publishing arm with internet unavailable at Nine HQ and some publishing tools unavailable. Staff have been warned not to restart computers.
Doubt it’s something they would be focused on. Journos at Nine will still be out reporting, and the average viewer isn’t going to permanently switch to Seven just because of a single night.
Very bad. I know with newspapers, everything from filing to pictorial to production and page layout is typically done through a single program. News Corp uses Methode and Nine papers use some WordPress derivative. I’ve had times where the system has fallen over right on 4pm as everyone is rushing to file and it’s been a massive fuckaround. Can’t imagine how bad it must be to be out of action for an entire day, especially when it’s likely company email addresses are out of action too.
i saw promo sponsors that mean 9 Sydney is back online
Or it’s being controlled out of Melbourne.
… this is what happens when you get rid of experienced television engineers and rely on IT … iTWire - Cisco supports nine tv network transformation to digital
I know they are trying to proceed with the football this afternoon via OB. But if that fails, will they take FOX?
That isn’t related to this outage.
This suspected cyber attack/hack is a lot worse than you probably think.
Seems to be affecting the entire network now, other than Melbourne.
Basic things, like work phones, emails & scripts, now unable to be used.
Tonight’s Late News bulletin likely cancelled too.
I wonder what the contingency is for Today tomorrow? Presumably fly the team to Melbourne and use their set if they can’t fix Sydney in time?
Thankfully Today uses the news set these days so the difference won’t be huge if that did occur.
Nine’s Sunday Footy is live now with James Bracey from McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle, NSW.
