That line-up graphic is incorrect. It’s only the NRL GF that Nine has exclusive live rights for - Fox League can show (and are showing) both the State Championship and NRLW GFs live.

Nine will be hoping tonight is a close contest, unlike last week’s AFL GF, including an interstate team from a non-traditional territory as well which usually boosts numbers. Could go very close to or beat that magic 4m figure, possibly looking for another record bvod audience too.
Penrith could create history tonight, winning 4 premierships in a row! Something even the dynasty of Brisbane in the AFL 20 years ago tried but failed to achieve and Hawthorn weren’t able to make 8 years ago.

Similar to how the Storm delayed the start of the Penrith dynasty, the Sydney Swans delayed the start of the Hawks’ in 2012 with (what could consider to be) an upset 10-point win in the GF.

Good opportunity for network promotion for Q4 and 2025 for Nine tonight, as well as any new surprises, like with the recent Olympics, as Melbourne and regional Vic (plus maybe some more from other AFL territories like Adelaide, Perth, Tas, regional Wa and other remote rehions) will have more viewers both tuning-in due to the Melbourne Storm. Hopefully staying too, possibly an extra 100-200k+ in average. Let alone local and national advertisers. Rather than if it were an all-Nsw game or Nsw vs Qld teams. Though no Qld teams this year might see audience down a bit vs Broncos.
I’d think more Melbourne Cup obviously, plus the Stan Bali drama, a new or returning show or two during and after The Block, perhaps Carols by Candlelight, other sports like golf, maybe a first teaser for the ‘summer of tennis’ including Aus Open and even Married and 2025 overview. I’d also expect more pushes for Today, Nine News and ACA.

Watching the NRL GF through Spidercam, player Cam and Coach Cam so you don’t need to put up with ads, and the voiceover guy doing promos, and also Mat Thompson screaming over the top. This is the most exciting Rugby League night of the year on Channel Nine.

Very different dynamics tonight.
During last week AFL final the whole thread was full of complaints regarding commercials during the game after each goal.
Not one tonight for the NRL.
