Nine Radio (Talk)

No idea, but a look at the SEN Broadcast guide indicates he wasn’t on-air today. He may have the time off from SEN, and is picking up this fill-in work.

No one is listening. People don’t give a fuck about 2gb. We aren’t subservient to the orange buffoon. We are a sovereign nation and Albanese is playing to that. It’s got more traction. If Morrison and 2gb and Sky were on the right track they would’ve won the election. People are over this right wing angry bullshit all the time. They offer nothing positive about the future of this country.

What absolute nonsense. 2GB is Number 1 in the Mornings, whether you like it or not!

Meanwhile, Mark Levy continues to go from strength to strength in Mornings, securing a No.1 share of 15.5 in radio and 39.7% in live audio streaming.

That wasn’t my context. My comment is not based on ratings. It’s based on the majority of voters do not listen to 2gb. In the broader context of voting population 2gb’s listeners are a very very small percentage. Stop clutching at straws to fit your right wing narrative.

I am sorry for misunderstanding your post, that’s all it was - a misunderstanding, so please don’t accuse me of trying to drive a right wing narrative when all I did was share audience numbers.

If you don’t like 2GB then don’t listen. We live in a democracy!

I wish I knew what point you were trying to make.

The majority of voters don’t listen to any one thing.

The thing with 2GB (and 3AW/4BC etc) is that they can claim all they like that they’re No.1 and whatever but their audience pool is very small and getting even smaller. The majority of voters don’t even listen to radio as a routine anymore, let alone the younger ones. 2GB’s preaching to an ever dwindling converted group which is nothing to be proud of.

I side with the left but this bizarre tendency to play down that people may be interested in right wing media or content is truly odd.

2GB rates very well.

It has a high share and a low cume, like AM talk tends to do

Yep - a good station will regenerate those listeners over time.

Without trying to go around in circles: I’m not convinced that 2GB (and Nine Radio in general) is equipped to do this.

Replacing Hadley with a blatant Hadley clone is not a good sign they’re interested in renewal; and their attempts at genuine renewal (Jacqui Felgate in Melbourne) have gone down like a lead balloon - albeit one that has stabilised recently.

I just find it funny that we pigeon hole people that only specific types listen to these stations. Sure some content may lean a specific way, but have you actually heard some of the people that call into talkback?

They might be but they’re increasingly likely to go for podcasts with buffoons like Rogan and co rather than flock to 2GB. 2GB is still rating at the top but there’s no doubt that the actual audiences are dwindling in a dwindling environment (as evidenced by the ever decreasing ratings share).

I’m not sure that’s quite right Tom. The recent survey results show that 2GB’s streaming numbers are through the roof with a share throughout the day of 26.1 including a mammoth 36.2 at Breakfast.

Even if people aren’t listening on an actual radio, there are plenty who have Nine Radio’s streaming apps downloaded on their phones.

And you love to stir the pot and constantly target mods and have no respect for them :man_shrugging:t2:

Nine Audio unveils national commercial leadership team

Following the recent announcement of Amanda Unwin as Sydney Sales Director, Nine Audio has now confirmed the appointment of several experienced sales and operational executives.

Christine Lester will join as Melbourne Sales Director in mid-August.

Michael Graham will also join in mid-August as Brisbane Sales Director.

Noel Quick, currently a Group Business Director at Nine Perth, assumed the role of Sales Director for Nine Audio on July 1.

Jonathon Mandel has been appointed National Head of Digital Sales.

Rick Lenarcic, currently National Head of Direct Sales, will transition into the role of Head of Sales Operations.

Chris Gregson will lead the Powered Audio team, integrating with the existing creative assets of the Nine Radio business.

There’d be a good chunk of that number listening on Smart speakers too.

Nine’s secret millions to keep Ray Hadley off the air

Diary can reveal the talkback radio network will continue to fork out big bucks to former 2GB morning show host Ray Hadley until the end of next year as part of a covert deal rumoured to be worth well in excess of $2m.

Nine sources told Diary that Hadley managed to negotiate the gargantuan golden handshake arrangement before hanging up his headphones and mic for the final time last December, just six months into his final 2 ½-year contract at the station.

Hadley’s highly confidential ongoing arrangement with Nine Radio somewhat curiously also includes an iron-clad mutual non-disparagement agreement and provisions prohibiting Hadley from appearing on any rival networks until the start of 2027.
