Nine Radio (Talk)

wasn’t sure whereelse to post this

Was anyone aware ATN (Australian Traffic Network) who provide traffic reports to TV and radio for nearly 20 years, have had a ‘competitor’ Go Traffic Media for nearly 3 years now? I wasn’t.

It was founded by Jay Flood, ATN’s ex-national operations manager and veteran who was an original in Brisbane when that company first started.

He recruited fellow ex-ATN reporters (who’d quit or been made redundant) including ‘Sando’ in Sydney and Andrea McNamara (3AW Breakfast’s former traffic reporter that left in late 2015 who worked with Jay in Brisbane in early 2000s before relocating to Melbourne in 2008).

They have had one metro station in each market (e.g.) 89.9 Light FM in Melbourne and multiple regionals

Yes - they’ve been providing some traffic reports for a couple of community stations like 96five in Brisbane and Juice on the Gold Coast for a while now. They also have a few regional ABC stations on-board as well. Their website used to have a list/map of the stations who carried them, but doesn’t seem to be there anymore.

Not a bad replacement for George given the type audience. Although it may not be the same. Its funny how they got rid of Chris and now get him back. Will it be same with Steve?

I guess no other alternative like a 2ue or 4bc to get a job these days.

I doubt it’ll happen with Price as his fallout was with Nine management not MML.

Regarding Chris, the previous management wanted to put him on nights which ended up in him leaving. Nine had no say it that decision but they saw the correct decision was to bring him back. Good move.

If I was in charge of 2GB I would not have rehired Chris Smith until after next week’s Christmas party.

I just checked and the article is still on The Daily Telegraph website, as the Mumbrella story states. So the resolution appears not to have included the Telegraph taking down the article which is what Lang originally wanted in his defamation case.

A taste of what to expect from Chris Smith on 2GB next year.

Has Smith been brainwashed?

Go Gretel! maybe I’d listen to talk radio if we had Gretel or more like her on there. Chris Smith is just another blustering right wing fool who denies climate change and what the Federal Government needs to do about it.

Shouting down your opponents might work for you on radio but it looks terrible on TV

Typical right wing debate tactic, just makes him look like a little angry old man
