MACQUARIE SPORTS RADIO IS STARTING WEDNESDAY APRIL 4TH 2018, MEANING TALKING LIFESTYLE IS HANGING ON FOR THREE MORE DAYS.
THE QUESTION I HAVE TO ASK IS WHY COULDN’T THEY HAVE STARTED MACQUARUIE SPORTS RADIO ON TUESDAY 3RD APRIL?
Firstly, there’s no need to shout.
Secondly, I’d imagine that Wednesday April 4 was chosen as the launch date for Macquarie Sports Radio because of a certain major event that starts on the Gold Coast that day…

Clinton Maynard has essentially confirmed today that he will be a part of the new format. During the weekender panel this afternoon he said that he had been texting with Clive Robertson during the week. Clinton first said more details would be revealed at another time and that he is happy about it, but Clive asked about what Clinton was going to be doing now, and to Clinton’s response Clive replied you poor lad. Clive has never been a fan of sport, and so reading between the lines Clinton will still be on.

Agreed. Makes sense to launch that day. It’s just a shame that Macquarie let it be known previously that TL would be ending on March 30 and Macquarie Sports Radio would be launching on the Easter Weekend. It seems April 4 wasn’t their first choice of launch date.

I’m only surprised that it seemed to take so long for them to confirm things with Clinton. In the early part of this week he was writing on social media that he still didn’t know if he was being kept on.

Pete Graham said on his last show tonight that TL affiliates in Queensland would become music stations from next Wednesday (April 4). I think he’s referring to 882AM frequency in Brisbane?

You’re kidding? MRN lack skill so much in talent development, the only Brisbane talent they retained is the cheapest on air signing they had. Braybrook is operations manager and news director and now stretched to do a shift too. It’s a joke.
They don’t do farewells at MRN, here today, gone by lunch time. Communication with their audience let alone clients is asking a lot of them.

Even with just 2BS, 2LT, 4AM & 4KZ, Pete could syndicate a show of his own. Likely his previous stations would return too for a Saturday night show well done. Others could stream online.
Pete’s last hour now, said he began on 2MG. Lines are full. 600 messages on email remain unanswered he apologised.
Lines are full. You wouldn’t get that often to the other shifts.

No, I heard it as him reading out a message from one of the hosts on 4KZ/4AM wishing Pete good luck but also saying that listeners to those stations would still have music on Saturday nights.

Yes I’m listening in too. Hearing Pete reminisce makes you realise what a wide-ranging career in radio he has had and what a loyal following he has.
