Magic have an evening announcer. It will be Emma Clarke 6.00 pm to Midnight.

I would still prefer the Magic log on 2UE.

Can someone answer a question about the latest Magic 1278 jingle. It sounds like they are singing “Melbourne’s Classic Hits and TAB” but that doesn’t make sense. What are the last words in their jingle?

Who knows maybe Sport 927 has been leased to them as well!.. that could be a novel way to get around the “ownership” rule, to lease stations! :grinning:

It’s actually a control rule, so both the owner and operator/leasee are considered to be in control of the licence.

That’s good, that is more logical.

Using my Bush internet radio, when I tune into Magic it has a recorded message asking me to download the app from the app store.

ACE changed the streaming urls when they took over Magic/2ue/4BH

yeah hope they can update it. It defeats the purpose of have an internet radio if you need to use an app. I guess internet radio is one those gadgets on the decline with the advent of the smart speaker. I wonder if you tell Alexa to play magic will it go to the old stream?

Mine plays Magic perfectly fine.

Yeah the dedicated internet radio devices (without and smart speaker integration) are thin on the ground these days.

Does the new Ace Magic still replay the same songs in the same order 12 hours later like the old Nine Magic did?

I tried to use google to tell it to play magic 1276 on the car it didn’t work, but now have saved it as a favourite within the radioapp.

No, the music has a lot more variety than what Nine was playing.

Would be a bit strange and stupid if they did. I believe Nine leased the stations to Ace because they didn’t want to spend time, money or resources on the music stations. Ace will try to make Magic successful, as no doubt they’d hope UE and BH will be too. Repeating music every 12 hours is surely not part of this strategy. There will be repeats as with any music station but not on such a short rotation.

So far, in two days, Magic sounds like a radio station again with a great variety of music.

Agree that the music sounds a lot better. Its also fantastic to have actual DJs again rather than reality TV contestants.

Interesting to read their ratings goals for the stations. They’ll easily get 4% for 4BH, even without any possible changes at 4KQ.
