A lot of the content Eurosport has the rights to is on a multi-market basis which includes Australia
Paralympian Janine Watson has called out something I was also frustrated by during the Australian Open on Ch9. The Olympics watermark also sat at the top screen during matches, but not the Paralympic logo pic.twitter.com/1fdEshQRNl

A nothing complaint.
Yeah, Seven never showed the Paralympics logo/watermark in the lead-up(s), only during the actual Games, like Nine, they just showed the able-bodied Olympics one.
Although, in promos, at least Tokyo 2020, I think their end-tags and marketing did show both logos either side of the “7”?
It’s all very well to push the equitable line but the Paralympics are not the Olympics. The Olympics are the biggest sports event in the world (maybe alongside the FIFA World Cup), the Paralympics while an incredible testament to the human ability to overcome adversity are not.
there are Ch 9 promotions which include the paralympic logo as well as the olympic one…
great!
Just a reminder that tomorrow night (Thursday 1 February) is the Closing Ceremony of the Winter Youth Games. Airing on 9Gem at 9.55pm aedt, and is scheduled for 55 minutes long…
In channel 9s promo they have too many Australian athletes, their is other countries competing as well but the promo is still cool and fun.
Not enough Lativan pole vaulters and Moldovan rythmic gymnasts for me
What? There are other countries.
I mean why would an Australian broadcaster want to focus on Australian athletes.
Someone’s got to get silver and bronze
A Nine spokesperson told SBS News in a statement that the network was “proud” to be the Australian broadcaster of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
“We feature para athletes across a wide range of our programs and platforms, and regularly share their stories in our sports coverage,” they said.
“The roll out of promos and their placement varies throughout the year, but be assured the Paralympics will be prominent in our broadcast and messaging throughout this year.”
I thought we entered multiple athletes?
Good to have a Paralympic ident
wasn’t sure which thread would be best suited, but thought here covers overall
MW (via The Australian) reporting that the ABC’s request to be sub-licenced by Nine for the Olympics has fallen flat and will be just the second time since 1952’s that the national public broadcaster won’t have any official part covering a Games:
Anyone recall what the other year was?
2020 (2021) wasn’t it?
I think it is selfish by Nine not sub-licensing Paris Olympics to the ABC.
Although Nine told The Australian that “commercial regional stations will be able to simulcast our feed if they wish”, how many regional stations will pick up the offer and at what cost? Will the Olympics take priority over regional stations’ AFL/NRL coverage on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays?
And how will 2GB’s Olympics broadcast be heard on the airwaves in Adelaide as Nine does not own a station in the city?
As Nine also holds exclusive radio rights to Brisbane 2032, it and the ABC need to hold talks now in order to get a deal done. It will be a major embarrassment for both parties if the ABC can’t cover the home Olympics and Paralympics live on radio.
