Why can’t they just simply have a full screen backdrop of Darwin? It’s stupid they couldn’t do the same with the regional compostite bulletins also.

it’s not too bad, but yes a full wide shot of Darwin would probably suffice… and maybe these wide shots for something special.
Do they use any actual OTS graphics or anything or just this one image?
Nothing special - just the one image, no OTS. They could do such a better job imo.
10 News Adelaide is a great example.

The angle of the new Darwin shot looks much more like a faux skycam than the awkward helicopter/drone angle of the old one.
Honestly though, it would be less bother and look more polished for them to just switch between the normal OTS template and a plain backdrop. 10 News Adelaide-style.
