Peter Overton lost his voice after Amber crossed back to him at the end of tonight’s bulletin.

This has unfortunately been happening to him quite often over the past 12-18 months. It makes you wonder if Pete is dealing with symptoms of long-covid, or if it has possibly been brought on by years of smoking (if he smokes)?

Not really. When you are projecting your voice like Pete does it’s natural to lose your voice at times (you’re using it beyond its usual intended limits), there are mechanisms and the like to protect your voice but they only go so far.

an occasional tickle in the throat isn’t an issue? and like it happens all the time, must just be Pete is the one people are fixated on.

Its more than occasional… quite regularly

As I said, it seems to happen a lot more often with him than with other newsreaders.

I’m more concerned with why Pete feels the need to make sure he’s dressed himself appropriately as the Peter Harvey intro plays - he does it almost every night!

Exactly. Maybe he does have long covid, who knows and who cares.
