I can see why Seven News Melbourne has gained momentum lately.
Theyāve got a solid lineup of 3 main presenters, unlike Nine which really just has Pete and Alicia.
The 3-presenter lineup which Seven has pushed in most of its markets seems to have worked well for them.
It might be worth it if Nine looked into a similar arrangement such as Hitch (Mon-Thur), Alicia+Another (perhaps Brett McLeod/Dougal Beatty) (Fri-Sun).
Thatās if Brett comes back any time soon, and while Dougal is a great presenter, I donāt think heās quite the āA gradeā newsreader just yet.
I put Dougle and Blake Johnson in the same category.
Both are great talents but just donāt have the high level profiles to bring in viewers at the moment.

Since Brett McLeodās move to the European bureau last year, Dougalās profile is rising in Melbourne,but l agree with your point it takes many years of experience to gain credibility with viewers.
